df extracted the logs and I think {ar}Digger always made the stats. I think it shoudl still be possible to post stats somewjere, but I'm not sure, the dev team might have the logging switched off.
52  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: Wiki on: 24 September 2008, 18:47
ah that might be because I'm somewhat of a sneaky person and did not put the walkmesh files over there yet Smiley. Maybe I should make it more clear in the wiki. The worldgate explanation is only for GvM2 and since the module is not yet finished, the walkmesh files that worldgate is supposed to download aren't publicly available. the 404 error is perfectly normal, I might change this to something more useful soon Smiley

Good luck with your studies and thanks for helping out with the server.

I think it is for a part an error and for a part design Smiley

57  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Future Talk / Re: Fix to the banking idea. on: 03 September 2008, 10:19
As far as remembering your CD key "for an hour" I'm not so sure that's a good idea. What should be done is that the CD key is stored on the chest you're using, and the NPC simply checks your CD key and gives you the key to the chest that has your CD key stored.
You could then tell the NPC "I don't want to use my chest anymore." He'll destroy your key; then find the chest with your CD key on it, and store the new CD key as blank until someone else uses it.

A system of this kind already exists see the other topic for the links I posted to it. But instead of keys, it destroys the chest after a certain amount of time and spawns a new one. Also you don't need a key you can just check for CD-key onUse of a chest and then decide to open it or not.

There are much better storage scripts out there that are being used on other servers.

To say this is all based off "Player error" is weak at best in light of the fact that its fixable on the dev side.

I think that Turril mentioned to bring him one that supposedly works better and he will install it. So if you could get a hand on these you can send them in...
59  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Future Talk / Re: Items on: 01 September 2008, 16:11
Are these all copyrighted for GvM1 or can I use these description also in the itemset for GvM2, I'm at the point where I make items named: "yet another stupid sword"
60  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Future Talk / Re: "quest" suggestion on: 01 September 2008, 16:04
People Could place bounties, that would be awesome!!!

I think people should be able to put an amount of xp over a persons head. If someone claims it, well then, the xp gets subtracted from one person and added to another.

Opinions?
Problem, if you just levelled, you char might get illegal because you go leveldown again.

I have no clue why HazMatt moved them. Wouldn't Rade do that if he wanted to anyway?
Because he can't move them.

I have to agree on BSG, although I never watched the old series and I love to watch the new series, I think that some of the plot turns are just there to lengthen the show with another ten episodes. Now, almost all the good guys are cylons, but hey they might still turn events in something interesting. What I do know is that the soundtrack is just great Smiley.

To extend on this topic, I just found out that they have reinvented knight rider, haven't seen it though, if someone has I love to hear your opinions about it.
62  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: Bank problems... on: 01 September 2008, 15:16
Problem with lag is, you can make you script as secure as possible, lag is still able to break it. I used to ignore the chest when I had the feeling the server lagged only a few miliseconds.

I don't think there is a 100% secure persistent storage system and maybe there shouldn't, however to extend on Kermit's idea I found this script on the vault: http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Scripts.Detail&id=35, apparently it stores your cd-key on the chest and keeps the stuff for ten minutes, only characters with the same cd-key can open the chest, f you haven't emptied the chest within 10 minutes it will self destruct and spawn a new chest for others to use, seems like an excellent transfer system to me. Only problem is the script is quite old and I can't test it for you guys, so if anyone has the time.

Also you might want to look at the following persistent storage scripts:

http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Scripts.Detail&id=1214
http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Scripts.Detail&id=3049
http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Prefabs.Detail&id=653

They should still be tested though

of all the people on the server that I miss, you are on top of the pile mate.   I still mention you often.   I will jump the pond and check out the flower fields some day and when I do Ill shout out to ya!

I am proud of the work you and the team has done.   Without you and these efforts the worldly playground and the legacy of this amazing place wouldnt be.    I salute you mate.

BIG CHEERS!

Make sure to drop me a note also for those flower fields, I might just tag along with df when I have nothing better to do Smiley.
64  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: CR/drop rate on: 01 September 2008, 14:30
I'm trying to figure out how it is that some one who goes in and in 2 weeks has 4 perferator bows, 2 RTCs, a star blade and 2 of Galadriel's swords and in six months I have these 2 items.  In other words, What is it that they are doing that I am not.

If you really want to know, the guy with the 4 bows has a lot of more luck and should really consider playing in the lotery that month, you never know if luck works on every aspect of life.

I know of a time when lim-dul was farming for a starblade, he was busy at it for over a month and the most fun thing was that every time he stopped for that day some other guy joined and looted it on his first run Cheesy

Never saw somebody getting that angry about that, hilarious Evil

67  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: Where did the Rants & Raves go? on: 28 August 2008, 09:04
You could make a player a monitor on the forums (Turns the spotlight to Skeevie), Because I am on alot, I could learn every single forum rule, and monitor the rant's and raves section, could we do it that way?

Please? Smiley

If we enforced the strict rules on that section, it would probably be empty 99% of the time.. The other 1% is welcome here Smiley
68  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Future Talk / Re: is the sky going to fall? (Server Wipe Question) on: 27 August 2008, 14:58
True, however you can only wipe if the module is ok. And rebalancing a whole module takes a lot of time... Probably some mistakes will be made along the way, so I think that the devs can say something about a time table when they almost finish testing their adaptations.
69  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: Bank problems... on: 27 August 2008, 14:54
In that case I've always been lucky, there has always been a fellow Dastrion to transfer stuff.
70  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: Bank problems... on: 27 August 2008, 09:03
Or you could always use a friend to transfer stuff....
71  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: Where did the Rants & Raves go? on: 26 August 2008, 17:16
I could also make an email adress rants@gondorvsmordor.com and forward it to you matt, on the other hand let people just send everything they can think of there, then I will make sure it is forwarded to someones trash can. Smiley

I can however agree with the decission to delete this section, it was just an relic from the AR forums and its purpose is questionable to say the least. And to be quite honest the rants got a bit off topic lately, you can use off-topic for off-topic stuff.

Real complaints are likely to get more attention when they are send to the appropriate person. Most of them are recognizable on the forums due to their 4 green stars and the text "GvM1 Admin" in their profile.
72  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: Copying others statements on: 22 August 2008, 13:02
Well, I'm not going to limit everyone on putting quotes in their posts. I encourage people however to keep the quotes somewhat limited and maybe only highlight what you are responding to so everyone understands the context, also if people change their post, then an answer to it may still seem to have some sence. Smiley

that sounds very interesting. I love big events where the stakes are high for both parties
