1  Misc / Off-topic / Re: What If? on: 13 January 2021, 02:35
I haven't done much of the Mordor Orcs. They've proven tricky as they are mostly consisting of actual Orc NPC's and a handful of Half-Orc models. I did, however, stumble upon these Uruk-Hai models in the new CEP. These could be implemented and used! I think they're heavily Lord of the Rings inspired:

As far as "Evil" NPC's go, I did a couple of Haradrim Archers (Basically the dudes that rode around on the elephants in 'Return of the King') :

And pretty much all the Corsairs to make them look more.. Pirate-ish? :

Like I said. Nothing fancy, but it gives them a touch of flavour to represent their faction.

So I would like to start off by saying I am no professional when it comes to the Neverwinter Nights Toolset nor am I some sort of expert animator. However, I am a customization addict, and I enjoy messing with anything that has to do with it. I've been dabbling with the toolset for awhile, and thought to myself.. What if GvM got all their NPC's redone to look like they're more associated with their faction? Gondor sporting Blues and Golds and Whites. Rohan/Edoras sporting Greens and Browns and Golds. What if someone took the time to simply just make all the models look closer to what they look like in the movies? There's nothing wrong with what they look like now, but just.. what if?

To give a small example, I've been copying what some of the models look like in this module, and redoing them on my own module. I then come up with my own look for them, and place them side by side.
This wouldn't mess up their drops, mind you; you could keep the armor in their inventory, but just make what they're wearing undroppable. So they'll still drop what they look like now, but cosmetically, they'll look different.
There's still some work that could be done... but these are just a few of the minor NPC's I did below:

Gondor Marksman.

Gondor Guard

Gondor Halfling

Rohirrim Soldier

And a Rohirrim Archer

Simple? But they look different, and not all decked out in the very armor they're wearing.
I have a long line up of some of the major NPC's in the background.
I'm only using what I've been given within the toolset. Adding all those advanced CEP's has only gone and deleted a bunch of things, so I'm just using the basics from the most recent CEP-- along with a 'Baldurs Gate Heads Hak' for the Rohirrim Soldiers heads. It just looks way more accurate in my opinion.

Not that I'm obsessed with playing Gondor vs Mordor recently, but is the server down for maintenance? Or did we have an unexpected crash that GreyDeth is unaware of?
4  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: How to get onto the new nwn EE server: step-by-step guide on: 06 December 2020, 06:51
Well, well, well.. I've returned to the forgotten forums of the late, great "Gondor vs Mordor" server. I always end up finding myself back here at some point.

Alright! So originally I was having trouble gaining access to this module, but i believe I've figured it out due to the fact that I'm no longer asked for a required hak file. GvM focuses on a completely different folder than all of my files were actually going to. So we're good now!

If previous logins from the old-school GVM is allowed, I think I played under the same login? Possibly "Dturnbull" if you don't find anything under "Satorial" ... But upon my return, that would be cool to have access to considering how long it's been. If more information is still needed, lemme know. A lot of the gear I have on my old toons is not gonna be easy to obtain. lol
5  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Future Talk / Re: NWN Enhanced Edition on: 05 January 2019, 02:34
I think out of all the games i've ever played on the computer, Neverwinter Nights has given me the most issues. Can't say it's the easiest game to work around when it comes to getting all the CEP's. It used to be a hell of a lot more difficult on oldschool!

But i'm in, and i'm playing.. so i'm a happy camper.

Now we just see how long it takes me before i start whining about how i miss all my old gear...
6  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Future Talk / Re: NWN Enhanced Edition on: 04 January 2019, 21:32
Yeah. Figured that would've been the case at some point, i was just trying to understand why it let me in one day, and not the next. I guess the secret to fixing most things regarding HAKs and what not is to simply go a little oldschool. I took all the files from the TLK folder and HAK folder, and just threw them over to the EE Folder, and i've been granted access. We are good to go.

So i guess in Bad Karma's case, whenever they come around to see the resolved issue, let it be known that if this problem ever occurs for others, the fix just requires them to transfer the files manually over from one folder to the other.
7  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Future Talk / Re: NWN Enhanced Edition on: 04 January 2019, 15:39
I only ever log in that way, Grey. I can see the server on the list, i can access it, but once it brings me to the " Character Select " screen, almost a milisecond later, i'm booted back to the main menu and told i'm " Missing required HAK file " .. But it doesn't list which one, or anything for that matter. I've yet to subscribe to anything new recently, so i don't think nothing is colliding with another override. And as i've stated already, only two days ago i was in there creating a character, i just never completed said character. I lost motivation halfway through for the build i was going to bring in, figured i'd come back another time when i found another. I distinctly remember seeing the player list. Four other players were online, then i went into Character Creation. Now i can't even so much as have time to even click the player list. Was anything recently added to the server? Or done to the server since Tuesday? Anything of that sort that would trigger this, even though everyone else isn't having any issues. Maybe i'll re-subscribe to the CEP on Steam. I still can't get in today.
8  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Future Talk / Re: NWN Enhanced Edition on: 03 January 2019, 23:05
Well, yeah.. I've always had NWN:EE, and the CEP is a must to have in order to play any modules. So, that's all said and good.. But the module still isn't allowing me access. As i said, this is just happening now. Only yesterday i was allowed access to view the player list and create my character. Now i can't even get to that point. I have all of that, it's just the server not letting me in. Suppose i'll just let it sit for awhile and try again tomorrow.
9  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Future Talk / Re: NWN Enhanced Edition on: 03 January 2019, 21:12
SO.. Upon trying to log in, i'm asked to locate some missing Hak files that are required? I haven't got this before. I was able to check the player list and Create a Character (Which i never finished) .. But now it won't even let me sit in the server vault. Boots me out immediately. Is there something i'm missing? I haven't lurked the forums in a bit.
10  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Future Talk / Re: NWN Enhanced Edition on: 31 December 2018, 23:13
I have been holding off joining the module in case anything changes once it's opened for playing. If i were to make a character, would i still have that same character and everything i've collected on him by the time you're finished with the module in it's entirety? Or should i wait.

Simply so i don't invest too much time into something i won't be keeping. Because i know theres a few people whom are clearly interested in transfering over old characters, where i'm simply going to be starting from scratch.
11  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Future Talk / Re: NWN Enhanced Edition on: 16 December 2018, 03:02
In regards to recovering old toons -
I for one, am completely okay with having to start over entirely. I was hoping, and planning on doing that anyway. Nothing says " Throwback " like a fresh start on an oldschool module.
This way i can get in on all the raids that happen in the beginning and get myself some top gear (Assuming i get on at the right time that is) One of the major downsides to playing back in the day was never having the proper gear to go on said raids with players.
I still remember the first time i got Aragorns Armor, i nearly had a heart attack. It was Christmas every time i logged on.. Baragors Axe is still on my bucket list. Never did get to wield that bad boy.

I get more and more excited thinking about this module making the jump over everytime i come back to this forum. It's killin' me. >.<
12  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Future Talk / Re: NWN Enhanced Edition on: 15 December 2018, 18:24
This entire thread has increasingly brought so much hope to my 2019. You have no idea. I wish i could help, but i don't exactly know what i could do other than populate the server with my presence until i'm sick and tired of NWN.
13  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Future Talk / Re: NWN Enhanced Edition on: 10 December 2018, 21:05
I'd have to reinstall the original NWN just to play GvM. I'd be outta luck if we didn't get it over to EE. If worse comes to worse, i'll go as far as asking for a copy of the module just to figure it out myself with some people i know. But, aslong as theres some sort of hope for it, i'm content.
14  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Future Talk / Re: NWN Enhanced Edition on: 10 December 2018, 00:21
This.. this was a heartbreaking post to come across after a long awaited hope for the return of GvM.
I too can agree, there hasn't been much improvement as far as the " Enhancement " goes, but it's put the game back on the map, if anything. Servers i used to play on the original are just littered with randoms. GvM would flourish over on EE. It's the popularity and order over any visual improvements, if you ask me. Like, the server list is back.. that is beyond nostalgic for me, and all i could ask for. But not seeing GvM in that list will suck.

The game really isn't that expensive, and if anyone is still playing the original, it's probably because their servers haven't made the jump yet. There was over 200 people in one server when i first started playing EE. It's really not that expensive, and if nobody can afford the game, give me your Steam.. I will GIFT it to you for Christmas, dammit. I am that determined to get GvM over here. It's one of the top three servers i wanted to see make the move over to EE, so far i have one. The other is in the works, and GvM was my top module. A lot of history in this place.

At the very least, i hope this " No Go " is merely a stalling until it's figured out.
15  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: Bank Warning on: 19 January 2017, 21:38
Pretty much everything i had in the bank was on this character, so this worked out perfectly. I appreciate the kindness more than you know. I can enjoy some aspect of this game again. lol
You can imagine that bank issue was very demotivating.. equipment was always my weakpoint on this game, so this is quite the relief.
Thanks again!
16  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: Bank Warning on: 18 January 2017, 23:48
Yeah. Absolutely. Take your time, man. I appreciate it.
17  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: Bank Warning on: 18 January 2017, 21:40
maven ... Dturnbull .. found it ... dated 10-06-2015.
So if youre OK with it ... I can take this one from my old backup from 15 February 2017 and replace the "broken/stripped" Maven-toon you have now in Dturnbull (dated 16-01-2017) with the "fully equiped" backup-one from 10-06-2017 ....

After re-reading your message, i noticed the 2015 date and the 2017 are identical besides the year.. I assume you instinctively put 2017 a second time? If that's the case, Maven from 2015 would definitely have everything i lost.
18  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: Bank Warning on: 18 January 2017, 21:21
The login 'Dturnbull' was recovered by Firecracker sometime last year i believe. If you recovered the character Maven from a 2017 file he wouldn't have anything on him. The last thing i did with that character this year was donate what was left of his XP to the bank. I only use Dturnbull for test characters now.
Everything that was on that login (Mostly Maven) was in the bank.
Unless i'm misunderstanding here? O_o
19  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: Bank Warning on: 18 January 2017, 02:04
If you mean recovering an older character or account simply to obtain lost items.. My old account (And current Test Account) Dturnbull was the one that had all that stuff. Character by the name of 'Maven' .. He'll pretty much have everything i lost? Granted there will be a few things missing that i had just recently put in there. But i was just bummed i lost all the items from older characters from forever ago. If that's what you mean by backup-toons?
20  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: Bank Warning on: 17 January 2017, 21:14
Well, that's disappointing.
21  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: Bank Warning on: 17 January 2017, 14:39

This is the best i can do as far as proof goes.. Just the two warnings at the same time, and then the third one below it.
22  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Bank Warning on: 17 January 2017, 14:34
Let me first start out by saying that i have always been aware of how the Banks rules and regulations work. So there was no sense of impatience or rage at any point during this. I'm not sure what happened. But the story goes as followed:

I was using the bank to transfer some loot over to another character (Because i do not trust the server when it comes to dropping things) and i had apparently put too much in the chest, i believe i was 9 things over. So, i went back into the bank after a brief wait and started removing some things. And just to see where the number count stood, i closed the bank again.. this is where things got weird, as it prompted me with two warnings that i was still over the limit this time with only 2 things. But the chest essentially re-opened itself after i had closed it and then closed once more. I assumed it glitched or something so once again i waited! When i attempted to open the chest again, i was warned:

" This is a warning, do not interfer with players using bank chests "

My character was then forced to step away from the chest. I stood there for a minute before trying to go back into the chest (I knew i was still over the limit, and didn't want to lose two items)
But my Bank chest was empty, aside from having a Gondors Wrath Bastard Sword, everything else was removed.. I'm not sure what happened, whether it was a glitch, a bug or a mistake on my part, i lost all my stuff.
Now obviously i'm not going to expect to get all my things back, as much as i want them back.. There were far too many rings and weapons or equipment that i'm not even sure where to find, nor can i even remember the names to.. But i just thought i'd post this as a light warning to others, aswell as a quick little vent, as my morning was slightly ruined.
23  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: You Have Been Booted on: 15 January 2017, 18:35
Fortunately with some help on the server and from some friends i've figured out the problem. Apparently it was just a different version of the game i had installed, so it used different CD Keys. I've switched them up so that the game recognizes my account and i'm back in and playing! Thankfully. I'd be lost without this server when it comes to GvM, which reminds me Grey, i heard you're the one running things now...
Uhmmm.. THANK YOU. lol
24  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / You Have Been Booted on: 14 January 2017, 20:17
Hullo, Gondor. Hullo, Mordor.

I've recently just re-installed NwN and i'm having trouble logging into the server. Everytime i've attempted to get on, it brings me to the character sheet and once i've selected a character to play, the screen goes black as usual, sits there for a second and then proceeds to inform me i have been " Booted " ... This happens everytime. There was one time where it told me the server had timed out, and i was disconnected. But i've been booted more than anything else.

Is this a server problem or an issue regarding something on my computer? GvM is the only server i really played when it came to NwN (Along with one or two others) But this ones more important! And i've left my heart and soul in this server! I would like to continue playing. Smiley

Success. I cannot thank you enough, Fire. 'Preciate the assistance.
