Well Lookie Lookie...

For the love of Sauron I cannot believe you Maggots are still wiggling around. Even Pixie returned for a debut. My my, I wonder just who could be next.  Chronos perhaps?  It's good to see things are still alive and well. I thought the demise of Middle Earth was at hand ages ago, but clearly I've underestimated you Festering, Feces eating Cockroaches.  Well... enough of the pleasantries, I get to the point. I was wondering if any of you Insignificant Worms would be venturing into the new Neverwinter MMO that will be releasing soon.  I thought perhaps it may be nice to see an old face or two.  Sadly, I too have not found any game that could hold a flame to the original NWN and it has been sorely missed.  Unfortunately, I haven't time for just about anything anymore except for perhaps breeding more dark spawn. My newest addition will no doubt squeeze the life out of many Pathetic men in the years to come.  With so many spawn to train I haven't time to even violate a single family let alone slaughter an entire village.  It's been so long since I've bathed in blood, I swear it's taking a toll on my youthful beauty. Well... Keep the candle burning you Useless Pigs.

2  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / *Peers into the Planatir* on: 20 September 2011, 05:41

*Looking over the vast lands of Middle Earth that she had once ravished. The towns and villages she had burned and pillaged in what seems a lifetime ago. The taste of blood and the scent of charred remains fills her senses as she craves for the endless cries and screams of all those that have fallen to her wicked desires. She places the Planatir down and softly sighs out of depression. She closes her eyes and falls into thought.*

Why do you do this to yourself... You know full well your time for that life has passed... Yet even now, after all this time, it seems impossible to shake the lust for suffering, malice and murder. Oh how glorious those times were... Standing over the fallen heroes of Middle Earth...  The final shudder of their once beating hearts as they fall silent forever in my hand... The satisfaction of watching them drop to their knees, clutching their split stomachs in the vain attempt to stop their entrails from spewing to the floor...  Gazing into the eyes of the most noble and heroic as the last glimmer of life fades, and the eroticism of knowing the last thing they saw was the face of their children with my blade to their throats.
The mere thought of being without these essential moments is almost too much to bare. Perhaps if I send word to some of my old companions, perhaps then, I could satisfy some of these cravings with the stories of their triumphs and glory in their quest to dominate the lands of Middle Earth. Perhaps....

*At her beckon, a slave comes forth and produces a quill and some parchment but in his haste forgets to bring forth the ink bottle, and in Zevia's state of mind it certainly does not bode well for him. After a brief moment of disapproval and annoyance from Zevia, the quill is stabbed into the neck of the poor slave causing a stream of blood to pulsate from his wound. She fills a small flask of blood as the slave gurgles and gasps for his last breaths of this world. She dips the quill into the flask and starts her letter before the slave finishes writhing on the floor.*

Greetings my beloved Maggots and Worms of Mordor,

It is I, your beloved Mistress who without doubt you have been yearning for in my long absence. How you grovelling wargs managed to survive this long without my presence is beyond Sauron's sight.  I write to you from this lonely prison of a tower, while continuing Saurons will. Oh how honored I was to be chosen to raise and teach these Spawns of the Underworld.  Little did I know just how much I would miss the Bloodlust of my former profession.
Alas, it is in this regard that I bother to speak with you pathetic, useless, ingrates at all. Very little information gets thru to the far reaches of this Citadel. What news comes from the front lines? Although I know we are victorious as always, I unfortunately lack any... details of these triumphs.  Who has fallen, and who remains.... Surely some of you festering pigs have survived. Perhaps you've managed to slay some of the more formidable whelps of Gondor? Oh how good it would be to know that most still remain so that when..... If.... I am ever freed of this unrelenting task, that I shall return and end their lives by my own hand.
I shall be waiting for your replies so make haste you Wretched Herd of Goblin Feces.

3  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / The Time Has Come. on: 17 May 2010, 22:49
Useless Maggots.

I believe the time has finally come. I've been away from Middle Earth for some time but I do frequent this forums to see what has been happening.  Although I miss forcing you all to eat your own bowels, it has none the less come time to depart from the blood soaked soil of Middle Earth. I have hoarded my belongings for the past months as the Bigby's grip of Addiction has a very long duration.  I am finally free of it's grasp and the war has moved on without me.  I will now have to be content with killing regular common folk, their small children, and whatever animals I can find in this wretched town.

With that, I will no longer be needing the small amounts of possessions I have since it wont take any work to gut these pathetic worms from their gullets to their groins. I have instead opted for another solution. I will send word across the lands of a Monthly Tournament. This tournament will be an offering to me, and your tributes will be the blood you spill.  Survive, And you shall receive the blessing of Zevia. But.... There can be only 1 champion. There will be nothing for the worthless corpses of the fallen. With that said, During this tournament, objects of vast power will not be permitted for competition as some of you have more advantages then others. All items permitted will be of level 21 or lower and tournament ranges will vary from month to month.

I'll set more details at a later time when more time is permitted. For now, I just wished to inform you all that for me.... After 11 long years.... The game has ended.

6  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: Event Calender on: 14 October 2009, 16:45
Your Idea's guys are good so far. I like them. Let's remember that we're trying to come up with events that need virtually no DM's to run them. What I'm proposing is to use scripting to arrange timed events thru out the weeks so that Players can monitor themselves. If DM's want to be around that's great, but DM activity is not always available so that's why we're going to try and work it with scripts. great start so far though and I'll add them to the list.

Quote
1.  Timed city raids starting at the gate closest to Osgil.
Quote
2. Timed teamed city raids (same starting point) with limited munber of people. Say 5 people per team and would be good to have 3 teams (no relogs, so everyone can play) to see if they can make it to kings hall in X minutes. If they get to the hall then they get X more minutes to kill the king. All teams go until 1 makes it.

I like these idea's but for since they're both basically the same thing, I'll group them together as one. As for rewards and such, to be honest, the play factor is what we're really trying to promote. I don't want to make it so that to get people to get out of bed in the morning you have to offer them boss drops and special event items. People need to want to do these things because they are fun. That said, No big Boss drops, no everyone gets a token just cause you showed up. The event token that i was suggesting earlier was purely bonus and only 1 person of a group would be able to get it. and that's IF and only IF, they can actually do it without being stopped by the Defenders.

You have to think Longevity here. If these events will be taking place once a week every week, then we don't want everybody and their cousin sporting event tokens, and rare boss drops just cause they show up for an event. the Event IS the reason to show up. Not the rewards.

Quote
3.  Another idea that popped into my head would be arena pvp gauntlet matches with boss item as reward. All matches done in 5 lvl incrents.(spelling)  Done either with other players as the gauntlet fighters or npcs.

This has been done before for many years. It's the annual Gladiatorial Games that takes place. It hasnt been done since the Wipe though since people made a big stink about the type of items that were being distributed last year. Those are run by DM's and rewards given by DM's. In future, i think that if they will be returning to the server that perhaps the items will be stated before the event so that people can see what is up for grabs, and can bicker about whether or not they think its too much or whatever so in that way DM's can decide whether its worth the trouble to even set up a Gladiatorial Games.

Quote
4. SORRY,  PF and Xroad raids with DMs respawning npcs until all raiders are dead no rezing so as the team dies the event gets harder

Nice idea but would require DM intervention to Spawn mobs constantly. Sadly going to leave that one out since even if we could script spawn timers to increase dramitcally for certain times, the Exploitation of such a thing for xp or drop rates or whatever would be a concern without supervision.

Thanks Wake for your suggestions.

#1  Balrog - I only saw this thing once when Angels asked the DM to port us to him at 20th lvl....I wasn't able to put up much of a fight and as far as I can tell no one raids him anymore.  He's a little easier to reach I think then some of the other bosses and I can't believe I'm the only one who wants to see him go down and maybe even see what he drops.  Members for the raiding party can meet in Druids Grove and it can be bi-factional.

This is a fine idea too. we can always set up a night to make a run to all the Non Faction Bosses. there's plenty of them. We could have it as a group outing to kill all of them in a night. I think for this type of thing the Boss drops alone are worth the event, so no need to worry about incentive. Those that know lets list up all the Non Faction Bosses in game and get a list to work with.

Baragor
Dracolich in Fallen Tomb.
Balrog
Shadow Dragon in Celebrant
Ice Palace Queen
The Master of the Catacombs
Kerlin
Maynard
Gorlack
Sauraman
Grimma Wormtongue
Dimholt Undead King Guy

(more to add when i can think of some.)

Quote
#2  Barad Dur - Yeah I still need to get my Gondor 2 more lvls to be in range with 40ths but I'll quickly do so if I know that there's a raid scheduled.

this is just a recap of what was already be suggested so no need to add it.

Quote
#3  Dunland - Maybe its already been "dun".  Maybe its just a collection of tough SOB's with no boss to fight and no quest.  But if a raiding party forms, those of us not yet in the know can find out.  Again this might be another opportunity for a bi-factional raid if members wait until the western reaches of the Gap to form group.  Could hit Orthanc first.

I have yet to actually go to Dunland since my time is always so limited. I am unaware of the specifics of whether it is faction or not. Regardless, if it is faction based then we can set it up as a attack defend scenario, and if its not Faction based we can clump it in with Wake's idea of Non Faction Boss killing or whatever.

Quote
#4  Ok this isn't really a raiding idea.  I've just noticed that in the last 2 weeks players are making and lvling many more Mordor characters than Gondor ones.  C'mon Gonds keep up!!! Help me lvl up my pally and my bard.

And let me get this straight... Your EVENT idea..... is to have more people play Gondor so you can level up a character?  Know...... I know I left a warning out there for not flaming anyone for an idea... SO I'll do my VERY best to not go against my own very strict rules. I'll just leave it at, "this is clearly not an event so will not be posted"

Other then that, great suggestions guys. Keep them coming.

7  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: Event Calender on: 13 October 2009, 05:30
I'll do my best to keep my posts as brief as possible since I too, hate reading long ass posts and find it hard to get thru them. puke

Alright.

So what I'd like from you players now is to help me establish some different ideas and concepts for as many different events that you, the community, would like to see in GvM.  I'll take all the idea's we can come up with, put them all in a poll, and you, the players, can vote for 7 different events you'd like to implement. We'll take the top 7 and figure out a way to make it happen from there.

On top of that, I would also like to try and arrange some sort of differing time schedule to allow some of our overseas players that are in conflicting time zones to have a chance to play in some events that would more suite their peek play times as well. In order to get an idea of that I'm going to need to get an idea of just how many players there are that fit in that category so we can work out just what kind of percentage of events would be allocated to their time zones.  I can't think of a better way to do this since I think it only fair that if 90% of the player base is on this continent then we need to do whats best for GvM and schedule the times accordingly to that. If someone has a better suggestion please feel free to voice it as these are just preliminary ideas.

The only other idea i can think of to make things EQUALLY fair for both time zones would be to have 2 different events happening every day. 12 hours apart. And they alternate what time they start weekly so that everyone gets a crack at things.  That could work as well.  Let me know what you all think.

Ok, What I'll do is update my first post every time someone gives me an idea for an event they think worthy of a time slot. If we get a Lot of ideas that everyone likes, we can always work out putting more in.

In the First post of this topic I will list every Idea for events that the community offers up as an option so you guys don't have to scroll thru a ton of pages to find them all to get an idea of whats already out there. It may also inspire you all to come up with some new ones. If someone feels they would like to contribute an idea but think you'll get spammed with hate mail or possible flamage from other players, send me a PM and I will add it to the list. All event ideas will be anonymous.

Lastly.

This topic is for Constructive idea's only. I don't want to hear all of the Bullshit and Drama that plagues virtually every topic on this forums in MY thread. If you don't like an idea, don't vote for it. I don't want to read even ONE comment that in any way, shape, or form even slightly resembling a Burn toward anything that someone posts in My thread. The Whole purpose for this topic is to Better OUR community and ANY deviation from that and I swear to Sauron himself that not only will I find a mod to delete your posts, but I'll find out where you live, Drive or Fly to your residence and personally remind you of this paragraph using such instruments as a Pipe Wrench, Garden shears, A Car battery with Jumper cables, Gynecological Examination Tongs with Disease Ridden Rodents, and many, MANY other misc. objects that I have at my disposal.

So.

Nice idea Zev. Now go log onto other servers and steal their player base.

You know I was thinking about going to some of those other LOTR based servers and stating that everyone misclicked where they were supposed to be.  That just like the ring, there is only One server to Rule them All.... and That Gondor vs Mordor is that server. And for those out there that would say, been there tried that, I'm geared up to inform them not since we've changed EVERYTHING they haven't. Play Barbarians and crush your enemies with 9 attacks a around! Create any form of Shifter your mind can think up and see our new additional Properties added as well as having ALL gear properties transfer to form, See a Blackguard the way that Neverwinter Nights was supposed to make them and countless other class and feat changes to dazzle the imagination.

Hopefully we can open the flood gates once more.

(this post will be modified frequently to add event idea's. Scroll to bottom of post to see what has already been posted)

 So.

It has come to my attention that for the past few weeks server numbers have dwindled down quite a bit. Most likely to Real Life circumstances for many I'm sure but that is besides the point.  An uninhabited server is a dying server so in an effort to try and bring some players back if they've lost interest I'm going to suggest the following.

Setting up a set Calender so people who have limited time online can pick and choose what would be a good time or Day to log on.  My idea does not have to have any significant DM involvement, in fact it doesn't really have to have any. Although some would be very nice.  What I'd like to see is set days set aside for specific types of things.

Example.

Fridays are Minas Morgul and Minas Tirith City Raid days. Starting at a set time of the day, the first successful raid on the city gets 1 event token to roll for by those involved with the sacking. Those participating can defend or attack, and i think there should be some sort of incentive to defend as well to avoid just having one mass group going in for a slaughter without Opposition.  I'm not sure if the server keeps track of Real calender days in any way but if it did, you could script it to spawn a chest in both king halls on a certain day of the week at a certain time that has the event token in it that can only be opened via a key from the dead kings.  Although I really don't know if that's possible so DM intervention may be required to at least put a chest and key in place.

Different days could be set up for different places like Baradur/Rivndell or Edoras/Helms Deep, etc. with same rewards as above.

Another example could be,

A set PVP day that makes it much easier for people to find and kill targets. This goes back to the Globe of Seeing idea I had ages ago that has never worked perfectly. FIX IT.  Evil And as i said earlier, if the server can spawn something at a set time blah blah, put it in server and signal a shout of its arrival. From there, players take care of themselves. instead of a event token for a reward could make it those players that have the Globe get double xp from PvP kills or something.

or set up some other type of event that's pvp based, but I'm trying to think of ideas that have little DM involvement so you guys don't have to make time to run this. Either that, or higher some more DM's to be active to run things or give a lesser position to someone that can run something like this
in your absence, which could be done with a set player allowed to have a key to some room in Pocket that has the Key and event token, although I don't trust any player with a responsibility like that.

I think part of the reason some aren't logging in any more is that although there's lots of things to do on the server, they all require a group of people to do them.  And there usually isn't enough people on at the same time to do big runs, and if there are, then the PvP side usually suffers if your going on a raid in the far reaches of no mans land.

Basically these are just suggestions but I'd like to hear some feedback from You, the players to hear what you all think.  I cant see any reason to disagree since so far all it would offer is us the players with more structure and more fun.

If something like this does take off then I would also like to make the suggestion that the Staff of GvM send out a MASS EMAIL to all registered Forums members to tell them of some of the changes that have taken place in GVM and a link to the calender if and when its created. Perhaps we can entice some of the Old players back with some of our new changes and events. the reason I suggest the Mass email is to inform people that have not visited the Forums or the server in Many many moons and don't plan on visiting any time soon.

At any rate,

Hope you all find this worthwhile to read and envision in GvM's future.

Your thoughts.

Mistress Zevia Shadowlust

Current Ideas.

1) City Raids - Minas Tirith vs Minas Morgul. First to slay king, party rolls for 1 event token.

2) PvP night - Gem of Seeing,(once fixed) is used to give the person who possess it double xp for PvP kills and double Crystal Charge points.

3) Helms Deep vs Edoras. Additional Mobs may be required since some players can solo these areas,
basically same as City Raids, with perhaps an additional Conversation option to Captains in both City's to get transported to your factions strong hold. (ie. Helms Deep/Edoras) conversation option would only occur on event days, and within a certain time limit from strong hold gate breach if scriptable.

4) Baradur vs Rivendel. Same as City raids with portal option, but with a twist. I'd like to see an area be added between final boss rooms that can be used as a staging ground for PvP with only some NPC advantage to help defend. Actual Boss rooms would be off limits to defenders since in places like Rivendell and Baradur, a single player to defend in a boss room would mean disaster to many groups compromising everything.

5) Timed City Raids. Limited number of time for groups to attempt to reach and kill Kings. As to how to set it up for an event without DM intervention, Possible Timer Widget that will start a countdown timer. When timer is up it ports players to Pocket. Only thing is trying to set it up so that players dont exploit the timer to get free teleports so perhaps when it fires if can tell what area your in and if its either, Gates/Bridge, City's, or Halls, then its a free trip. Otherwise same cost as Seal Teleport.

6) Non Faction Boss Slaying Day. Basically group efforts to kill any non faction boss so both Gondor and Mordor can team up. Plenty of Non Faction Bosses out there and I will get a list organized for all of them. Rewards would be the Drops and a chance to see first hand how effective your rivals are and seek out any possible chance to exploit their weaknesses in future.
Evil

7) Faction XP% increase day. On this day whichever Faction can aquire ALL of the xp% bonus from ALL areas, that faction gets an event token to Roll for. If all area's that give xp bonus are CURRENTLY your factions bonus then on the kill of the last xp% increase a Portal could appear that works similar to the lighting torches quest. Inside portal takes you to area with a chest and 1 event token to roll for. Additionally, Your Faction gets to reap the rewards of a HUGH xp% increase till the next reset or until the opposing faction takes some of it back.

*ahem*

Read the name of the server lately?  If I'm out causing general mischief with a level 15 character out in Gondor Crypts, and the CALL TO ARMS bell rings.... Your damn right I'm going to answer. Its OUR city...  Having it Sacked not only makes OUR faction lose a possible 20% xp bonus but it just happens to be.... OUR City. I'm going to defend it against the 5-10 PC's that can come storming thru and destroy the NPC's with their advanced AI that does the same thing over and over again, an put a stop to the Raid hands down. And my TEAM is going to say Hey Great Work Zevia, that was a close one. thank you for saving our beloved City and not allowing them to take it. If I was to raid ANY place that is faction oriented I full well EXPECT opposition to log on and defend. why the F*** am i Playing a Full PvP server that is called Gondor vs Mordor to begin with.... So that I can wait till no one my level, or anyone that could stand a chance is on so I can Coordinate a City Raid to bash some NPC's and call the Whole thing an all out success?  If I were to Raid a city, Storm the Kings, and get a Full inventory of RED gear without Opposition I would be Greatly disappointed.

Although I do miss some of the old rules to PvP and could care less if someone is raised in battle by an ally to fight again once they heal up, I found it somewhat annoying when the person raising them was a GS'd person without fear of Retribution and raising the target while Im off fighting his buddy who ran away to some place where I can't keep track of the person I just killed to make sure he's still dead and staying that way.

Just my Opinion.

A budget version of horses were added to game via Clawing bear.  They've been modified and made to work well enough, People have designed and made builds around the use of them, and the mod is enormous. I personally don't like horses that much except on specific toons. but I use them constantly to get me around so i don't have to carry a ton of Boots or other gear to get me to the far reaches of Middle Earth in the limited time I have to play this game.

A lot of time and effort went into to adding and keeping these things. Now that they are here, keep em.  Animations are nice to have as well but I play this game for function over graphics. Its far too old to be worried about how you dude slices and dices at this stage of the game.

Nothing I hate more then having to Roll the dice for a Rare drop with some loser you've been letting tag along that Dies constantly and does nothing in combat.  And I don't mean they have a crap build with useless items that cant hit anything effectively because if they were genuinely TRYING to do something then sure grab a die. I'm talking more about players that have the ability to do something but sit back in GS and say, i don't know..... refuse to cast a spell and instead just heal people with a weak healing kit with no healing points as a skill. Your kits aren't worth rare drops.

Terrorble is right....  In the Evolutionary cycle that takes place over Millions of years Species alter and change to fit the environment in which the species needs to survive. The Weaker Eagles that had little to no ability to create poison slowly disappeared genetically since their rivals were able to better defend themselves and their offspring from predators and also had a substantial advantage in winning mates over their lesser counterparts.

I Must admit, I miss the days when it was "full out Kill anyone whose a different faction then you" days. Although I do remember there being a Lot of people miffed about this from the effortless side of things.  The rules system the way it is now with the effortless being able to make first strike is effective in leveling out the playing field but can definitely be exploited for a flawless victory. Most times, first strike is match.  If you get the drop on someone then within a few rounds its over. Most of the time the player who gets jumped has a hard time recovering and getting a GRASP Tongue on whats just happened to them.

I for one know and can admit I get pretty angry when I get taken from a couple effortless toons while I'm in the middle of handling business and I get even more angry when I lose to things such as Bigby's and what not.  But I say that now because I don't have the gear anymore to defend myself.  Prewipe I would go around with my PvP defenses up 99% of the time even if I knew that wearing other gear while fighting a Hard boss would make it MUCH MUCH more easy. When I had the gear on and got jumped at those times, I never cared since i could more or less handle it.

That being said, We all need to remember to calm down and realize this is just a game, and you win matches and you lose matches. Even if Head to Head you know full well you could Pulverize a player. Part of the beauty of War is that you never can tell whats going to happen.  It makes perfectly logical sense that a smaller target would use whatever they have at their disposal to win. Be it More players, More NPC's, Annoyingly overpowered spells, HIPS spammage, whatever.  I'm not saying its not "Bush League" as you like to call it, because I fully agree it is, but you also have the choice of getting the hell out of there when you think you may be setting yourself up for a trap. I've done that myself plenty of times and have decided to not fight a boss or go to a place because someone is around waiting for the right moment.  War isn't straight forward. You have to keep your wits about you the WHOLE time. Not when you just see the person in front of you.  At the end of the day, people want to win any way they can. To see their name in those pretty Red Letters saying that a level 25 killed a level 38 so the rest of the server can say... Damn... that kids good.  Most don't give a rats ass if it takes a Bigby's Crushing Hand in the middle of you fighting NPC's, or getting the last attack while your Allies are trying to kill you to release you from the effects of a Flesh to Stone.

War is Hell man.... Nothings Fair.

Evening.

Just wondering if The rages were supposed to be Dispellable with a Lesser Restore Pot or not. I'm finding it rather annoying to Use my rages only to be Either Interposing handed, or dealing with a Bard song only to have my rages disappear along with everything  else. If I dedicate 20+ levels into a class, and have 3 Mighty Rages per Rest, 6 Greater Rages per rest, and All of which last a short period of time to begin with,(which basically means only 3 good buffs per rest) I sure would like to know that its not an intentional effect to have them go away every time you try and get rid of negative effects on your toon.

I've often wondered if ther was some way to script a trap along the same lines as a Headstone on respawn or body whatever. So that the trap you aly is remebered to be yours.  I really dont know anything about the NWN script though and counldnt be bothered enough to look into it.  It would be nice to get credit for a PvP kill with a trap for sure.

Agreed.

No need to revamp the Whole premise of the server.  Those types of changes are best suited for the start of a new module.

And as for getting rid of the Alignment restrictions of playable sides,  I was first in favor of this since it would bring out a TON of new playable characters and add a variety to the server that has never been seen before on GvM. But the more I think about it the main reason I wanted to do this was because I wanted to make the Super builds that are extremely high caliber. That being said, We just Wiped the server in order to Dumb it down.... I think perhaps opening that can would just bring us back to where we were just not with items so to speak.  Perhaps things should be left alone as far as Alignment restrictions are concerned even if I want a Pali Bard Palemaster or Bard DD Palemaster, or Pali BG Bard/Sorc.

That said, I am still thinking some PRC races would be a fun addition to GvM.  Perhaps i nthe form of Event winnings. Instead of items or weapons, play a PRC class that is allowable in game Like goblin, or whatever.

I have to agree with Rabbac about items from the books.  I thought it was weird that the undead hobbit Oblib dropped a freaking hand axe and not a short sword...

*shakes head*

Get the Facts straight...... it was a Kukri.

Also verify that the AB your see is not just in your Character sheet. Check the Attack Log because I've had toons that were cleric that had AB's in the 70's only to find out in the attack log that it was maxed at 62.

The character sheet was designed by Mordor Faction, so as a result it Lies, Cheats, And generally forces you to feel Mighty and Powerful, to Attack and Slay all the Weak and Pitiful Gondorians without worry.
