I'll add an observation of my experience on the server:

I think what dms intended on doing wasn't making UMD more important: I think they were intending on making class choices more important. How could a mage wear full armor? How could a fighter use a staff that only mages could use? How could a human could use an armor that was made for a Dwarf Gnome (more general and could get some people to hate me, but that also brings up some crazy logic)?

But, on the other side, why bracers or gloves that fits on a Dwarf could not be worn by a human? Or how could an armor worn by an elf could not fit into a human paladin (yeah, I'm taking it personal) ? That beeing said, although it is understandable, I think there are some problems on the actual items restrictions.

Although I like the idea, I think implementing it would be very hard since there are a lot of PM's in gondor. In terms of balance, that would be no problem, because Pally Smiters would have a new goal in life: destroy any pm that dares to enter PF.  Grin With that Dmg Vulnerabilty of 10% bludgeoning and 25% Divine, with Divine Might, Bless Weapon, and a Hammer/Mace/Whatever, Undead Hunters would became a terror to any pm.

Definetly remove the xp penalty. Maybe increase GP penalty to compensate it, and of course it can't be used during a battle or in the middle of the pvp.

What does CTD mean? I have a lot of problems using a GeForce FX 5600 on a Asus P4S800, with a 2.4 GHz Pentium 4 and 512 Mb of Ram (yes it is old, I'm changing soon). Sometimes I had the BSoD but more often the system would just froze up for 30 seconds or so before all graphics getting corrupted, with the game getting graphicaly laggy afterwards.

What I did to solve it was to reduce bus and memory clock of the Video Card using a sofware called PowerStrip, but right now I'm using the nVidia tools of overclocking to do the task.

I was thinking on a new char to make when I got an idea to improve Ranger and Druid classes: how about making those Animal Companions summon, instead of the chosen animal at level up, a rideable horse? Since we are talking about lovers of the nature classes, the type of the horse summoned could be the fastest and poorly armored ones, instead of the armored and ready-to-enter-war paladins have.

So, what you think?

Rodriguez, you can't enter indoors with a horse. I think that the dms did it because they saw how overpowered a Horse rider could be... so now horse's builds are incredible strong on defending pf or xroads and in outdoor pvp, but you won't use a horse build to fight bosses and farm.   Cry

I noticed the fluctuating AC, and I think it works like this: it seems it needs 3 seconds between each AC refresh, so you'll get like 80 AC for 6 seconds and then you'll lose 10 AC for another 3 second before the next refresh, making you vulnerable for a short time. Horses make your amulet slot free and also pally horses give +8-10 natural AC, so I guess it is a fair trade.

I've been pestering Ollie so much with questions regarding the horse system and only yesterday KK told me that the paladin horses are bugged and aren't giving the bonuses, which was in the first place why I was asking so much about them lol.

Something that I noted: is that a constant "-10" factor on the calculation of the extra AC? Also, what is the AC type granted by Mounted Combat feat? As I undertood, that "Natural AC" boost people talked about came from the horses's Natural AC from the horse's chart, not from the feat. Am I correct?

The AC will fluctuate with the every round.  drunken_smilie

Archers get a (-4) to attack when mounted, Mounted Archery reduces that to (-2). Shoot and run will be much easier.  brave

You lose your tumble(-50) when mounted, Ride skill replaces it.  smileinbox


So you will lose any AC bonus from tumble? They won't stack then?

Well you could make a stupidly awesome shape for lvl 30 shifters, like morphing into a tarrasque or, since we are playing in a LOTR based world, evil shifter could morph into lesser ring wraiths and good shifters could morph into a... something lawful good, perhaps?
