2) Locked Chest in Troll cave - someone asked about this TEN years ago, and the answer was 'Ill PM you in game' and that 3 others had figured it out.  I don't see a boss in the cave or troll area, but am guessing that stone to flesh on the 3 trolls (Bert and Co,) has something to do.  A hint would be appreciated.
got a stone to flesh staff but now bert and co. are gone...

Bear in mind it's been a long time so I might be misremembering, but I think there was a key on the ground somewhere in the previous zone (Trollshaws). I think it was near a tree. It's super small and easy to miss.

Server seems to have gone down.

Edit: And it's back up.
3  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Character Builds / Re: Epic Resistances on: 05 January 2014, 22:30
Thank you for pointing out that the DR does not stack. That probably saved me some time and frustration. I also didn't know about the Air Elemental. If EDR doesn't stack with Dragon Shape DR, I would assume it does not stack with Construct Shape either...or any shape? Am I wrong?

I don't have much experience with SD toons, nor have I built an SD tank, so I wouldn't know how they work. After reading about the Tank builds that have been successful I am starting to get a little more discouraged about the idea of a EDR/EER tank build being viable.

DR is all a very complicated mess, sort of :p There's Damage Immunity, Damage Resistance, and Damage Reduction. Damage Immunity, given as a percentage, stacks with everything else (and is applied before everything else). Damage Resistance, like that on gear (ie, 10/- slash/bludge/pierce etc, NOT +5/10 or whatever), stacks with Immunity and Reduction.

Damage Reduction doesn't stack (with one exception). Damage Reduction would be like the +6/20 (and these could be any numbers, +4/9, +12/20, etc) found on gear or from certain shifter shapes, and this doesn't stack with other forms of Damage Reduction. Damage Reduction can also come from certain classes like DD/Barb and from epic damage reduction feats. The class DR+feat DR stack with each other, but don't stack with other Damage Reduction (like soak DR from gear or from shifter shapes).

For example, if you were a druid5/shifter13/dd22 (15/-) with epic damage reduction 1-3 feats (9/-) in Iron Golem form 25% pierce immunity, and an archer hit you with an attack normally doing 40 damage, it would hit you for (40 - 10 (from 25% pierce immunity) - 15 (from DD22) - 9 (fom edr3)) a total of 6 damage.

If anything wasn't clear, feel free to ask for clarifications :p On the topic of DR though, I'd also like to mention that the Resist energy/epic energy resistance feats do stack with your highest energy resistance from gear. So if you had 1 epic energy resistance fire feat, a 10/- fire cloak, and a 5/- fire ring, you'd get 20/- fire (10 from your epic energy resistance feat and 10 from the cloak).

I was thinking more Druid/DD/Monk, DS only, but the Construct idea is interesting.

After playing my first dragon shape builds though I have finally found what people mean about them being absurdly large and annoying to use. For that reason I would love to build a Dwarven tank of some sort, I just wasn't sure it would stack up well.

Druid20/DD18/Monk 2 has been a somewhat popular build. Off the top of my head, I remember Loc'mer, Noruas, and endless sorrow all playing it  (and I'm certain there have been others). And although the dragon shape is quite annoying size-wise, the air elemental shape actually gets a higher ac. It does lose out though on a lot of the dragon opness, TS, high ab/damage, +6/20 dr, all that str/discipline/anti-kd dragon sexiness, etc. However, air elemental with weapon finesse can still get a decentish ab, and +6/20 dr from dragon doesn't stack with DD/edr feats anyway (http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Damage_reduction in case you wanted to read up on it).
5  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Character Builds / Re: Epic Resistances on: 05 January 2014, 20:44
Druid5/shifter13/DD22 was the first tank I ever made, ~5 years ago. It could tank pretty much everything in the mod without a problem. The only things I remember it requiring some assistance on were Ghost of Smaug and Balrog. And even then, we farmed Ghost of Smaug for awhile with that, a dedicated healer, and an archer (with Nobutadas and Loc'mer).

They ended up lowering the phys immunities some, and lots of places had clerics who then started spamming turn undead for 100+ damage, so the next tank build was wiz4/pm10/dd26. This too faired extreme well pretty much everywhere, and became the next tank spec. This however ended up getting nerfed in that some boss damage got buffed+the anti-pm script was added everywhere, so pretty much any boss who attacked a pm did 100 extra damage per hit, which destroyed that build (although that was later "fixed" or removed from most bosses or whatever).

The next go-to tank build was the bard5/pm10/sd25, with it's 100+ ac and 85% conceal, could tank everything in the mod. All the toughest bosses (Balrog, Ghost of Smaug, Oblib,  etc) and all the toughest areas (BD, TOD, Hobbiton, Rivendell, MT, etc) weren't a problem. In case you haven't sensed a pattern yet, this build got slightly nerfed as well, lowering the Shadow evade bonuses and whatnot.

I'm sure they are all still fine builds and whatnot, although I never ended up remaking any of them after the server wipe. Was too annoying not having some of the gear needed to make them work, plus, if you have a tank, it pretty much means that's all you'll ever get to play. I did end up making a hybrid ac/dr tank, a Fighter 2/Bard 16/PM 22. No one wants to play a bard, so it gets enough bard levels for the 16 bard song+curse, 102 ac with just song+haste, 10/- slash/pierce/bludge from items + 9/- slash/pierce/bludge from edr feats, lots of energy resistance feats, great saves (although no evasion :/), 900+ health, and can use all the great fighter only gear (faramir's armor, henneth helms, etc).
6  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / Melee Builds / Re: Human Fighter 30/WM 5/HS 5 by Ses on: 04 January 2014, 23:18
I put it through the build tester and have a couple concerns. First, my AC and AB stats are quite a bit lower than the ones your build projects. I recall it was only about 53 AC and around 54 AB, unbuffed (about 60 for both buffed). I am wondering if this is a result of my alterations to the build, or lack of some gear availability in the test merchant. My other concern is whether the lack of 2 Strength from GS feats are having a profound enough effect on my final stats. I thought maybe the added WM levels would even out any AB discrepancies, but I am not entirely clear on how WM AB bonuses work.

I would love to hear some discussion on benefits and drawbacks of this build and any viable alterations on it. Other alternatives I was considering were: Fighter 22, Weapon Master 13, Harper Scout 5 as well as a WM 16 variant, but I feel the excess WM levels may be detrimental to the build due to lack of Great Strength Feats and Fighter Proc. opportunities.

My ab+ac calculations were as follows:
AC: 10 base+2 Armor Skin+8 Tumble+15 armor(+6 full plate)+5 shield ring+6 deflection+6 natural+5 boots+4 haste+8 Harper Scout pot+3(?) deflection from double-sided weapon=72 AC (not bad for a melee dps, and improvable with better gear, think I had 76 on mine, 78 with bard song)

AB: 30 bab+18 str mod+5 weapon+5 Harper Scout Pot+4 feats (wf/ewf/ep)+1 WM (Superior Weapon Focus)+2 Bless/aid pots-2 dual wielding=63 (again, not great, but not horrible)

The AC value was assuming you had +6 full plate armor, the shield ring from Captain of the Corsairs in Corsair City (gives +5 shield ac, WM only), +6 ring/ammy, +5 boots, were keeping yourself hasted from helm/boots/pots/a friendly mage. That's in addition to the HS pot and double weapon ac bonus, which are GvM additions.

The AB was assuming a +5 weapon, bless+aid pot, and the +5 from HS pot, another GvM addition.

Something like ftr7/hs5/wm28 or ftr10/hs5/wm25 etc, would net you like ~5 more ab, and some more ac, although I really enjoy some of the procs from the fighter widget (mainly the party friendly -ab ones and the tank-friendly/saver -attacks per round proc, oh, and the spellfail one was nice to hinder any Heal spamming)

Lay on hands doesn't seem to heal at all. On use, it heals none, while consuming its use for the day. I tried on both friendly targets, as well as myself.

Ignore this. Just have to log out and back in after creation to make it work, I suppose.
9  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / Admin Announcements / Re: Updates part I - bug fixes on: 22 December 2013, 00:30
If you kill a Disciple of Orodruin after it shape shifts, you only roll on three pieces of gear, as opposed to thee ~10 normally.
10  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Drop rate increase? on: 18 December 2013, 22:42
While the server was booming, the widget sort of accomplished this, as I can't think of ever doing a city raid, or a big boss kill, where someone didn't widget the boss in order to increase the chance at loot. But now, with one giant party+no pvp (except in a handful of cases) the majority of people aren't able to utilize this anymore. So everyone has now been forced to start over, trying to refarm gear just to get back to where they were, and I know all the time spent farming combined with the lack of drops tends to get a bit frustrating.
11  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / Admin Announcements / Re: Updates part I - bug fixes on: 18 December 2013, 22:26
Rangers and rogues with more than 18 combined levels in those classes gain +2 ab when dual-wielding - if you go from one shortsword (or any other light weapon) to two, your ab shouldn't change.

As it stands, the bonus isn't working properly - I have 30 ranger levels on my test toon, and 47 ab unbuffed, with a normal shortsword. Equipping a second takes me to 46 ab (so I lose one ab, instead of the usual two).

If you equip from a quick slot, it should work properly iirc.

While setting up some festival things in the pocket, a certain dm might have accidentally deleted the haste trigger. Just requires a reset to fix.
13  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / Melee Builds / Re: Human : Paladin 29 / Sorcerer 1 / RDD 10 on: 18 December 2013, 19:44
I made a similar build but instead of Paladin I went Ranger.

It doesn't have un-resistable damage but it does get 2d10 magical from Blade Thirst. Also it doesn't need CHA so you can go all STR. I remember it got 54 STR with +12.

I think AB with only weapon and no buffs was 60 or 61. With aid/bless/premonition it goes to 68/69. Not to mention being Sorcerer you can use tenser scrolls for +5 ab. DMG is uber, specially with Flame of Udun(my weapon of choice) Smiley

Sounds a lot like the build fire posted several years ago here: http://www.gondorvsmordor.com/gvm2/forum/index.php?topic=1022.0

Although with all the changes, if you're making a Ranger/rdd, you'd be better off going Double-sided weapon instead of 2-hander, as you get +2APR at high ab, and +6 ac, without really losing anything.

For OP's build, I've seen several of them over the years, and the build is quite nice. High ab, high ac, can easily offtank some mobs that get loose in the party, and irresistible damage is fantastic. There are also quite a few good Bastard Swords as well, with a variety of damage types, so even if something has resistance to what you're using, not hard to swap out for another weapon/damage type.
14  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / Dragon Builds / Re: Human : Ranger 21 / Druid 18 / Monk 1 on: 16 December 2013, 22:53
Obviously done really well in the runs I've gone on with it. Although for useful weapons, I'm surprised you didn't list any double-sided weapons or qstaves! I haven't played a dragon since pre-wipe, but I remember them getting the +2 additional ac from using a double-sided weapon when shifted. Also, something like Shag's double-bladed axe would give you 10/- slash, on top of the innate +6/20 dragon dr, would make you even sturdier (while providing the 1d10, 1d8, 1d8 fire/acid/electrical damage, which meshes with your 1d10 blade thirst).
15  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / Admin Announcements / Re: Updates part I - bug fixes on: 30 November 2013, 05:07
The npcs in "Caras Galadham" area don't seem to be respawning at all. However the ones in the tower and temple seem to both be correctly respawning. Also, Galadriel gets script errors during long encounter. In the combat log, they seem to pop up in relation to the electric jolt she shoots out (although it could be related to whatever her slowing aura is, as once the errors start happening that stops affecting me).

Thought I'd share one of my personal favorite builds. Some of the feats are easily changeable to fit your play style, although to my best recollection, it was something like this (levels I took classes/feats might be messed up a bit, it's been awhile since I've logged on, doing this all from memory). You can choose any of the double-sided weapons (Dire Mace, Double Axe, Two-Bladed Sword), although I think I went Double Axe on one because of the great representation of that type of weapon, and I might have gone Two-Bladed Sword on the other, for the increased crit range cause I wanted to see more sexy crits :p.

Skills
Um, 4 Intimidate, 6 Lore, 8 Persuade, 4 Search, Max Discipline, Heal, think I cross-classed spellcraft, and maybe dumped some more x-class into search, don't really remember, maybe some into concentration?

I had a Fighter28/WM7/HS5 variant as well, although I preferred Fighter 30. Fighter 30 loses out on the +2 crit range but gives a higher chance to proc the fighter widget, as well as giving the -attacks proc to subtract an additional attack/round from the mob, which is absolutely killer against bosses. Although this is a melee character (and does a really good job at that), deep down my primary goal was to be a support/melee, so I preferred to capitalize on the support at a slight loss in critting power (and since some bosses are crit immune anyway, I wouldn't actually even lose out on anything vs them).

Base Stats:
AC: 10 base+2 Armor Skin+8 Tumble+15 armor(+6 full plate)+5 shield ring+6 deflection+6 natural+5 boots+4 haste+8 Harper Scout pot+3(?) deflection from double-sided weapon=72 AC (not bad for a melee dps, and improvable with better gear, think I had 76 on mine, 78 with bard song)
AB: 30 bab+18 str mod+5 weapon+5 Harper Scout Pot+4 feats (wf/ewf/ep)+1 WM (Superior Weapon Focus)+2 Bless/aid pots-2 dual wielding=63 (again, not great, but not horrible)

Now, to sell the character! Although the ab is a tad low, you get +2 flanking assuming someone else is tanking, which bumps it up to 65. So the attacks come in at 65/60/55/50/65/65/60 (first four main hand, 5th Haste, 6th+7th off hand), so 3 at max ab instead of 2. Two of the fighter procs also lower the ac of the target (one unequips the shield, the other gives a straight up -ac), and one raises your ab. So it only takes one hit/proc to cause you to easily hit the target, causing you to continuously roll procs on the target since they are so easy to hit. The spellcasting failure one is especially sexy when the boss gets low on health, and wastes his heals to spell failure. I'm quite certain I probably left some stuff out, although anyone who's played with me can vouch for the build's sexiness (off the top of my head, that's you NLawson Tongue). Alternatively, you could change the starting stats to Str 18/Dex 14/Con 10, freeing up an epic feat as well as changing one of the great dexs to epic skill focus (as well as making leveling a bit more fun with ambidexterity+improved two weapon fighting much earlier), at the loss of 80 health/+2 fort saves, but it was already super easy to level, didn't see the need for extra feats, and love having a decent ac+sexy health pool (700 health I think).

(Edited to clean it up a bit/reformat it out of how I usually wrote character builds for my use)
19  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: Updates part I on: 19 June 2013, 03:39
Unless something changed, all of the monk set items should be in game. I would list all of them here, with there locations, but I don't want to ruin the epic search for anyone interested in acquiring them. I never had the heart to equip them, especially not knowing what the bonuses were (and with them supposedly binding when you equip them all on a monk, I wasn't just going to equip them all on one character, given how one of them isn't soloable, so I wouldn't be able to farm another set). If you want to pm me Fire, I can let you know where the 5 pieces were when I acquired them.
20  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: Lost CD Keys on: 03 December 2012, 04:59
The only thing stopping me from just getting/using other cd keys is that since the world server is perma-down, cd keys are linked to accounts. So all the accounts would have to have their cd keys reset, or whatever magic Terror does. I think I'll probably destroy my room one last time, and if that results in nothing, I'll probably look at getting different cd keys.
21  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: GvM Map on: 27 November 2012, 18:36
I'd be right there playing with you chaoz, except I've already given up looking for my cd keys twice now :p Third time's the charm, right?

To address some of the stuff that I know about (assuming it hasn't changed), parts of henneth were always slightly annoying to solo with the hipsing archers and the PK, although I don't remember anything in particular being broken about them.

Rhovanion desert was always meant to be a challenge, requiring multiple characters in the 30-34 (or 35? don't remember) range. Although when Nlawson and I made toons designed to duo it, we realized my character was capable of soloing it >.<. The impossible label just refers to the level difference between you and the mob, don't see anything inherently wrong about that. If you're getting hit for 980 divine damage, I'm going to guess you're failing a save vs one of their spells.
22  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Lost CD Keys on: 26 November 2012, 02:22
So, I've had the urge to come back and check out the server for awhile now, but my cd keys which I've been using the for the past ~8 years, were stored on the bioware website, and I'm not sure they still exist in the physical form (and hours of searching resulted in nothing, well, nothing NWN-related, I did find my old game manuals from BG2 >.<). With the old NWN website gone, am I SOL?
23  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Future Talk / Re: Toon deleter on: 03 May 2012, 15:25
Sky, they had a server wipe a couple years ago to try and rebalance everything, as well as making lots of changes to, well, pretty much everything. So that's why your characters are gone. Aside from that, your characters won't get deleted because of inactivity.

What in my logic makes no sense? All you're doing is making baseless, false accusations, which aren't going to win you any arguments, or friends. Here's a screenshot of me using a greater spell mantle scroll, and it absorbing 3 IGMS. This is not some trick. We did this once. It absorbed three IGMS. No mirrors, tricks, or other gimmicks. You are wrong. End of story. All I'm getting from your posts is that you're upset that all of your twinks are now not undefeated at pvp (well aside from Fraunck cause you logged before you were killed). I know you take pvp really seriously, but this is extremely childish and insulting (and I wasn't even there).
