1  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: Anyone remember Supabastid? on: 12 December 2017, 18:53
Back in the day he played a toon called Pazuzu. I play Diablo 3 a lot now. A few months ago I came across a 'Monster named Pauzu! I finally got a clean kill on him!!!

Just a quick story about a heck of a player.

You killed me and I wasn't even there? That just seems wrong!

I play DDO a fair bit these days. Nice to see some peeps still around and kickin!
2  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Future Talk / Re: Suggestions - Traveling on: 25 July 2016, 02:46
You could probably just remove it from Drow shape altogether. Or, to keep in line with DnD stuff give them a shifter level based Spell Resistance spell (10 + shifter level) in the place of haste. Keep the beginning SR at about 27 and top out at 40 at level 30? So it would be usable but not OP.

Iron Golem maybe get a mass Warcry or something simple like a fire shield.

Mages will be fine, the change just saves them valuable spell slots.

Clerics won't suffer either because, as you put it, they still get Freedom with Travel domain.

Blinding speed should probably be a 2nd level of Haste. Maybe not another movement increase but another 4 Dodge AC and another attack. That would certainly help bridge the gap between strength based melees and dexers. I think getting 5 attacks per round on a strength toon would still be better than 6 on a dexer though. Mainly it would help the heavy rogue types (mostly rogue/assassin/sd levels) stay competitive in terms of damage even though only Assassin gets decent attack bonus on it's own.
3  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / Melee Builds / Re: Elf Druid 5/Shifter 19/Assassin 16 on: 05 July 2016, 17:22
I've been playing around with a version of this in the test area but went fully towards strength based Drow form. Same final level count though.

In Drow form at 40 with test-tier items it gets 63ab, 81ac, 7 attacks, and 65% conceal. Discipline is still 90-100 also without Epic Focus. I think in the actual mod you can squeeze out 2-3 more ab, 2-3 more ac, and still be 5 dodge ac under the cap (89ish max).

Damage isn't ridiculously awesome as base physical on crits is only about 50-60 but death attack and weapon elemental types boost it up nicely (well over 100 with good gear). Would probably be a good standard boss solo toon and definitely a good all-round party type that can hit and play off-tank when needed as it'll still get 800 or so hp.
4  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: Account names for Pinkpuff/Supabastid on: 04 July 2016, 22:30
Sorry pink, I can't find emerge2012 either or something like this name ...
as for moving contents ....
I can move toons  ... the vault has more than 500 accounts and over 5000 toons

But ... I really need some existing accounts or a couple of toon-names for that.

No worries, if I can think of them I'll say something. Doesn't seem like anyone plays anymore and most of the fun stuff appears to have been removed anyways so it's probably not a big deal at the moment. Thanks for looking though. Oh, and the issue I had with the _test area in game was my fault, I didn't have all of the CEP files correctly placed.

Hi pinkpuff

I am sort of around at the moment, give me a shout if you need me to look into anything specific (just catching up in the forums).

-fc-
Thanks, and good job with the mod.
5  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: Shifter tenser bug on: 04 July 2016, 15:49
Don't worry Lawson, I know you post because you care.  I mean that.

You read too much into the reasons why things aren't fixed.  It isn't conspiracy.

Once I transfered to mostly working on mod projects, I became out of touch with the players and the latest "methods".  I was also increasingly viewed as someone to hide exploits from, rather than have them showed to.  Three examples: the way players can get thru doors without opening them, using the tailoring models to gain massive damage bonuses to shifter forms, and using shifters and server crashes to clone entire inventories.   I had to spy using an alternate account and remove messages regarding my admin/deputy status to find out.  Sort of annoying for someone who doesn't use an exploit just because it can be.

I was never aware of this bug.  I have some interest in addressing this because it will probably present itself in my current project.  Anyone care to explain it in detail in a PM? (make sure firecracker is cut in)

P.S.  The breath weapon could easily be limited to 1 user per day, then have it re-usable every 1-2 turns.

Yeah I never did bother to figure out any of the tailor bugs. From what I heard that was just overkill to the point of not seeming fun. The door thing has been around forever. I also don't know who figured out the crash/dupe thing. Brilliant find though.

Hopefully you didn't take any of that personally Terrorble. I always had immense amounts of respect for you and I'm sure everyone else (in my group of people anyways) did too. But you were around just as long as we were and you were there for those early years where the Devs did everything in their power to keep people from having much or accomplishing anything. Even in the mid years every time I or someone else found a way to reliably beat something Ollebroc would be right there ready to rescript and edit NPC's. Looking back you were probably what stopped that trend but the players were already scarred at that point.

Your Shifter changes made the game fun again, opened new angles. And it was fun while it lasted, until this incredibly awful thread.

I honestly feel like I should whine about not being able to do what others do and then threaten someone to change it so they can get knocked down to my level instead of me rising to theirs. Just seems like the modern thing to do.
6  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Future Talk / Re: Suggestions - Traveling on: 04 July 2016, 15:16
Hi Guys.

Yeah I guess in general, it seems like all the servers are having the same issue. It maybe a little more so for servers that do not have active DMs / developers, but even with them around, it seems with low popularity, the motivation is just not there, so it's kind of a synergistic thing.

For those who are still playing nwn, and I don't speak for anyone, and this is just my opinion. I feel that many people want something fast-paced, which you can't quite find in GvM. Some of the improvements are added and that is great, and maybe a little bit of addition could help. For example, perma-haste and fast resting. Also for those who buff a lot, an item that gets you buffed with 1 click (similar to sequencer but uses your spell slots including meta-magic (maybe as a part of a quest). I think those 3 might get you going a little faster-paced and move along, but this just means more work, which I dunno is affordable.

Anyways, I hope you guys are doing well Smiley

This right here, everyone should have auto-haste. This was discussed before and all we got was a bunch of dreadful horses that I would kill on sight out of spite and annoyance.

Honestly though, it would balance out the classes a lot better and help with the general difficulty of the mod itself.

Caster Druid might be worth it.
Clerics can pick different domains, like Magic/Lightning or something defensive.
Melees can be more self sufficient without short term fixes through UMD or items.
General movement speed increase without stopping to buff or switch items.

Fast resting would be good also if possible. The buff thing he mentioned might be cool but I know I'd just be happy with hasted to begin with and not losing 10 seconds just to start buffing.
7  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Future Talk / Re: The future of Shifters on: 04 July 2016, 15:01
Now I'm not sure what can be done at this point but I'd say changing the Shifter "bug" probably drove a lot of players away only to satisfy the selfishness of one person who was out of control. Speaking of which, if I were a dev at that point I would have offered that person a spot on the dev team but request a phone conversation first. I would have then called him and explained that if my server got DDOS'd I'd turn his info over to the authorities. And I'd be telling him this as I banned his IP and deleted his vault.

And while it may not have been intended it certainly wasn't a bug as the radial menu has been usable since the game launched. Some of us spent a very long time leveling those terrible-to-level characters for very specific purposes and now they're useless. That's not a good feeling.
8  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Future Talk / Re: Suggestions - New Players on: 04 July 2016, 14:53
The buffer would be great for everyone at all levels. If left at the base caster levels even a low level cleric could dispel most of them in PVP.

Personally I think that's a great problem to have though.
9  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Future Talk / Re: Suggestions - Drops on: 04 July 2016, 14:51
Raising the drop rates would help a lot because, let's be real, the mod is damn hard. After years and years of the devs purposely trying to outwit players it's left the mod with an impossibly long learning curve. Not your fault and not much can be done about that though.

10  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Future Talk / Re: Suggestions - Miscellaneous on: 04 July 2016, 14:27
I would completely remove the restrictions. None of the class combos would be OP and NPC's smiting players has always been bad in my opinion. But if that's something to keep going then maybe just force all Gondor to be Good and all Mordor to be Evil after the restrictions are lifted. That makes sense to me.

Paladin/PM would be useful but the AB would still be less than amazing. More of a off-tank type useful for soloing lesser areas and doing some irresistible damage in party play.

Paladin/Shifter would only be a semi-viable replacement for Cleric/Shifter and I'm not entirely sure the extra possible AB (harder to hit the cap) would be better than the extra attacks from Cleric. Would be very specific type builds meant for complementing parties.

Dwarven Defender/Bard or DD/Barbarian would also be sub-optimal builds even with PM.

Blackguard/Paladin would only benefit the Mordor side and only for AB purposes which BG sorely lacks.

Paladin/Assassin would be a usable combo with nicely balanced offense/defense but far from OP.

11  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: Account names for Pinkpuff/Supabastid on: 04 July 2016, 02:48
So i can think of accounts pinkpuff and emerge2012 for sure.

Can I get their contents moved to a different account? I have no idea what my former cd keys were =/
12  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / Melee Builds / Re: Human : Fighter 7 / Weapon Master 7 / Blackguard 26 on: 04 July 2016, 02:29
Wizard shifters are probably the next best bet then. 25 wiz and you'd only need 10 shifter for construct shape. 2-3 less ab and minus 1 attack vs the ftr shifter (pre fix that is) but you'd pick up Warding/epic Mage Armor and the illusion foci feats for 65% conceal from Ethereal Visage. Not exactly super boss rompers but definitely better for mobs.
13  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: Account names for Pinkpuff/Supabastid on: 03 July 2016, 11:34
Any idea why none of the feats/changes save when I make a test character? Is the area broken or is it me?
14  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Account names for Pinkpuff/Supabastid on: 03 July 2016, 08:46
A bit of a strange request but does anyone remember my account names? After the wipe, or one of them anyways, I had something like 3-5 accounts.

I can remember..

pinkpuff
boogersugar
grevax (I think)

There's at least a couple more. I know the server is dead but I think dicking around here for a bit would be a nice step away from Planetside and any help would be much appreciated.
15  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / Melee Builds / Re: Human : Fighter 7 / Weapon Master 7 / Blackguard 26 on: 03 July 2016, 07:36
I was always interest in builds like this but the ab progression was a killer as were the temporary and easily dispellable buffs.

Are the Tenser shifters still viable? I know when I stopped playing the helmed horrors were the end-all be-all by a pretty significant margin. I had a built a 120ish AC tank and ran with a couple helmed horror hitters that just destroyed most everything.
16  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / Melee Builds / Re: Human: Cleric 23/Bard 2/RDD 15 on: 03 July 2016, 07:27
Definitely agree that going 28 cleric was the way to go due to the traps/debuffs.

Don't know what it's like now but I used to solo Morgul with a build like this circa 7 years ago. But then again that was when devs were building purely to thwart veterans so I'm sure you'd die at the gates now Tongue

I blame tono.
17  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: Worries about not having fun with PvP on: 03 July 2016, 07:19
I killed his two toons who camp in Cirith Ungol to farm the Orc Thrall. Two perfectly legal kills. DP is on so I didn't raise. After I kill him he instantly sends me a tell asking "if I had fun killing him" of course I did its part of th server. He asked for a raise to which I replied DP is on.
So after I denied his request to raise him, he logs in one of his Mordor toons to come and raise his Gondor toon. I told him you can't raise him with a Mordor and asked him to play by the rules. He broke the rule so I killed said Gondor toon again. all he needed to do was respawn. He made the decision to log off and quit for something that is a legal play.

PvP adds so much more than the boring hack and slash of farming xp or waiting for respawns of bosses. There is a crystal in your inventory when used on bosses increases the drop rate. Note to you farmers that crystal is a good thing. Another thing you might want to know is that killing a boss with a party also increases drop rate.

You always did make me proud, even after all these years. I'm genuinely shocked these forums (and the mod itself) are even still around. Not entirely sure why it crossed my mind in this moment and made me search for it but I'm definitely happy to see people playing.

This is based on the same old story that has been played out over and over and over again for the entire length of time I have played on GvM. From 2004 to now there has been a lot of mod improvements and nerfs. Basically the server is and has always been first and foremost a PvP server. While I am not a big fan of PvP, I see it as a major part of the GvM world. For many years we have had few, or no one that did enjoy PvP but I always kept my eyes open, buff before leaving the city etc. I agree that no matter if dp is on or not, one should raise the pc that was killed except on raids to city and so forth. I guess my chime in here was to support those of us who do in fact like to PvP, even if I do not. If you are attacked, fight, run or die, simple. I can't tell you how many times  have been murdered legally.
Most of us have either been playing with each other for a decade or more and those of s who have played here on GvM for many years know that we can be attacked at any time and any place in the world by a rival PC.
IMO, those who do not enjoy PvP may just wanna send a pm, or a shout asking not to be attacked. While I would never do that, and no one is legally bound NOT to kill ya, maybe, just maybe they'll leave you for someone else.
Feel lucky Pinky is not parked out in Pelennor waitin for ya to leave gate unprepared >) hahah.
Anyway, I just wanted to toss my opinion in as well as my long time experience playing GvM.
No one should feel as if they don't wanna play because someone may kill them. Being killed is part of GvM life.
thanks, cosmic

Haha, and after all these years I just happen to click this thread and see that I''ve gotten a mention. That's pretty cool I suppose. But, I have to say that regardless of the PVP prowess that myself and others have had I really hated doing it for the most part.

When I was new to the server (seriously, 2003-2004) I got my ass wrecked so bad by so many people that I actually quit a few times. Unfortunately getting good at PVP and having all toons keep a semblance of PVP ability was absolutely necessary so that's what I did. But seriously I never liked it. Never liked grieving others as I had been grieved, felt really shitty going both ways. But again, and sadly, going out of your way to establish dominance was the only way to earn yourself some free time to go explore or farm.

However PVP can be extremely fun also. I had a character (mid 20's in level) that had a good 2-3 minute encounter with a couple Gondor players in Pelennor. Killed one and eventually fell to a vorpal rapier (was PM 9 at that point...). Pretty sure it was against firecracker and marcus de rouen. We had fought multiple times before and they had long earned my respect and vice versa so the fight could be 'serious' yet amazingly fun. I guess what I'm saying is you have to get to that point. You have to earn respect and you have to remain able. My character in the mentioned example didn't get crit immunity till level 39 and I knew full well that venturing into PF would likely lead to my death and at least definitely lead to a fight. I'd imagine camping bosses should lead you to the same expectation, especially if the character in question is a poor performer in PVP.

Rage of Bahamut for android phones is a silly little toilet game but's pretty fun and somewhat addicting. It's a card based RPG, which I normally despise, but this one is actually good.

If anyone happens to try it out make sure you enter lrp33898 as the promo code at the end of the tutorial. You can use anyone's code and you'll both get valuable goodies and a lot of starting cash. Don't have to use mine but you'll for sure want to use someone's!

I was supremely addicted to Delta Force Black Hawk Down for a few years.

And by the way, the new one is almost here.
20  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: mages uberly overpowered on: 18 November 2011, 02:34
While reading this I was forced to stop caring when I realized it was a pvp sd/monk who got killed.

-10 man points for dying while using a pvp monk.
-100 for whining about it.

We'll take that card now.

Good build, surprised there hasn't been any replies.
22  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: SERVER DOWN on: 10 August 2011, 16:59
Gotta love those hour long journeys into areas where the npc's all have 90ab and your chance of success is about 5%. Even worse when the server goes down when you get there.

Down atm.
23  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Future Talk / Re: suggestions for item changes on: 30 July 2011, 06:18
Scythes are my only real issue, everything else is pretty well balanced. PLS remove the ftr/wm only restrictions and the better scythes (Khamul/Isenmouthe Captain) could stand to be siginificantly better,  especially Khamul's.

One of my favored builds is 29cleric/10cot/1monk. Max ab with might/shield and the other good stuff is about 66! No wm levels in that and the 5-6 builds that are actually better are well...better Tongue

Regardless though, khamul has the 2nd best scythe, its 2d6 elec/acid. The best scythe is +2, keen, 2d10 elec and requires a caster to make it +5. That has no comparison to the top 3 best great sword/axes....not even close. It costs a feat, it should be better.

1 handed weapons I don't care so much about as they should be considerably weaker. Though I do think Stormlord should be better than the standard axe drop besides just the keen. Keep in mind I'd still never use it.

Good suggestions can go a very long way as long as they are feasible.

24  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: Uber items in bank chest on: 28 July 2011, 00:22
I'm pretty sure this happened to me today. I was sorting mules and set aside a very nice greatsword and a set of very nice armor for someone only to throw some items into the chest later and find that they sword/armor was gone.

Kind of ironic I think considering the items this thread was originally talking about were mine too!

Anyways, if you open the chest and see things that aren't yours don't take them, or if you do at least post about it here.
25  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: Threat of banishment on: 17 July 2011, 07:45
Noruas is right, he (her) and srcarverna or whatever it is. One of those 2 seem to be on every time an account is logged in illegally. Always with low level toons walking around and asking questions. Garlana86 is another. I've heard there is a way to authenticate logins. should definitely look into it.
