Wow coach James! I think you were here when chronos and pixie were the DMs (I hope my memory hasn't failed me) ! Most of those early day players aren't quite around I think, but they do drop by every now and then. Good to see that you are still alive! See you in game, maybe!
2  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / Melee Builds / Re: Human: Cleric 23/Bard 2/RDD 15 on: 12 January 2016, 06:08
Hello. Just my two cents.

Not sure if much changed since, but I don't think it has. There are too many disj traps and other Disj in the game that I don't think 23 level of cleric can survive getting buffs stripped by them. I believe people prefer going 28 cleric, even it means losing 1 AC. Good luck! Smiley
3  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Future Talk / Re: Is this server dying? on: 03 April 2015, 00:52
Hi Guys.

Yeah I guess in general, it seems like all the servers are having the same issue. It maybe a little more so for servers that do not have active DMs / developers, but even with them around, it seems with low popularity, the motivation is just not there, so it's kind of a synergistic thing.

For those who are still playing nwn, and I don't speak for anyone, and this is just my opinion. I feel that many people want something fast-paced, which you can't quite find in GvM. Some of the improvements are added and that is great, and maybe a little bit of addition could help. For example, perma-haste and fast resting. Also for those who buff a lot, an item that gets you buffed with 1 click (similar to sequencer but uses your spell slots including meta-magic (maybe as a part of a quest). I think those 3 might get you going a little faster-paced and move along, but this just means more work, which I dunno is affordable.

Anyways, I hope you guys are doing well Smiley

I think I have not seen the half orcs, but I did see the red-sworded skeletons.

Also, the places does not seem to clean-up / reset. At least for more than 2 days, I have not checked since. The bosses do not respawn too.

Otherwise, a good place for leveling Smiley

-Necromancers respawning on the platform with Khamul which makes the fight a pain in the neck (just started farming him, really 8 necro's on top floor?). They are also immediately respawning once you go up and down again like the cellar.

I like how things respawn as soon as you go back to top floor at dulgodor, given the fact that those necromancers drop good stuff (like fell bracer, nice dagger, sequencer, dark arts cloak, scrolls etc), and the hounds drop really nice belt too. It's been my farming spot for those, especially the cloaks. I think they put it there like some other boss area where stuff respawns unless you kill the boss. Just like Aragorn area. There are ways to pull Khamul alone, or by killing a few stuff around before you jump onto him.

Btw who's warden? Is he the guy who has crazy conceal (was it like 90% or something)? He respawns like a boss I feel. Quite similar respawn timer as Khamul, maybe shorter slightly. If you log out before Khamul map, you'll need to go up (or down) and back again to spawn him.

All being said, I would like to know if Whirlwind can be fixed Tongue

Paladin losing ab might have something to do with HA. After HA duration, the ab seems to drop, so it requires re-equipping. I could be wrong though.
9  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / Melee Builds / Halfling : Ranger 33 / HS 5 / Monk 2 on: 23 January 2014, 13:04
I've never done any build posting before, mainly because.. most of my builds aren't that great and are not really soloable toons, but this time, it seems like it is a good build, and so I decided to share it with you guys. There are a lot of shifter / dragon builds which can solo bosses, and I haven't quite seen others that can solo except easier bosses. I only have one build that can solo osgil boss, and that is a dragon. I find it easier to solo with this build, so I thought it might be something better or equivalent (even though it's not easy soloing Baragor or other bosses, mainly because it can't really have many mobs around, or mages).
Anyway, here it goes.

Concentration : 43
Discipline : 43 (+10 from Epic Skill Focus)
Spellcraft : 10
Tumble : 40

It is Dual wielding Kama.
AB with Aid from Ranger and HS potion is (this has a weird AB progression, especially because it's halfling using Kama (one of the reasons why I went halfling instead of human)) :

Hasted: 66 / 63 / 60 / 57 / 54 / 51 / 70 / 66 / 61

Hasted and Flurry : 64 / 61 / 58 / 55 / 52 / 49 / 68 / 63 / 64 / 59

I'm not too sure what Max ab would look like. It's a little weird. It should +3 from there (I should've read the class changes. Apparently dual wielding gives +2 ab).
(Btw this ab is not including Bane of Enemies AB, so it should give +2)

AC : Max ac would be 92.  ( I dunno if this includes halfling ac or not. maybe not)
Wearing Nazgul fleeting step, Haste, and HS could potentially get you 90 ac (with +6 robe, +6 ring and +7 ammy).
(This is with full dex and full wisdom, get flat footed and you'll die fast!)

Getting the right item is really tough. I'm using Soul Pick (1d8 Divine, +5, keen, Mass crit 1d10), which works nicely with Blade of thirst (2d10 magic). Sadly HS pot's 5 magic damage goes to waste, but I like that +5 ab and the AC. It has low Discipline, even though I took the Epic Skill.. Using Bara belt,  Warrior's gloves, and Cloak of dark arts, max STR is giving me 82 Discipline, so even though your ac is high, if they roll 20 on KD, you are likely to get KD-ed and die fast Tongue
Using WK's helmet for Wisdom boost, Focus ring for +2 wisdom, Bigby bane, and Smaug's choker (it is +7 and has fear immune). If you have +7 robe, then you'll get +1 ac!

Even without some of these end game items, it will have high 80 ac, which is enough to solo osgil boss and what not. It's just that it has no DR, so it's quite sad when there are many mobs. Monk levels give evasion and deflect arrows, which are quite nice.

You can have it as Human, but your highest ab would be like 69 or 70, depending on how you make it. Also, you could have 13 int for expertise, and probably could kill peacekeeper even though he has like 74 ab!! I think human is a better choice since I'm getting KD-ed a lot more than I wanted..

10  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: Item Questions... on: 14 January 2014, 14:29
I thought that was like monk set item or something.
I remember getting the same thing, bad streff on a cloak.
It did give 50% concealment, but nothing else. I think that was part of monk set as well, though I cannot be too sure.
11  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / Admin Announcements / Re: Updates part I - bug fixes on: 06 January 2014, 16:42
Azer Chieftain gives +1 attack with divine power.
I was wondering if it should give +2 attacks if the Char bonus is more than 10.
It seems to give only +1 still.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think it is working as it should. I tried it again, and it's giving the right amount of attacks.
Sorry about the confusion!
12  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Future Talk / Re: Ideas and wishes... on: 05 January 2014, 05:23
Hello,

I'm not sure if this has been covered, but I'm just throwing out some ideas.
I don't think that many people are building ranged builds, and perhaps it's because of their lack in damage doesn't make up for the range they get, and also their ab (apart from AA, but even certain AA's don't get that reciprocal damage) isn't that great.

I'm not saying that all ranged builds are bad. I am sure there are a lot of nice ones, but it seems very limited, as compared to melee builds. Currently shifter seems like the best damage build, but there are a lot of other viable builds. Even though I saw that a drider build (probably, I'm not too sure), was doing over 230 crits, and it was making other ranged build look very bad (even melee WM builds maybe), it is a specialized build and I think it is quite cool.

It is important that STR toons should do more damage than dex toons, and they really do in general, but I feel that ranged weapon users don't quite reach the damage that the same dex toons  would have. (probably because there are better weapons around, and maybe I have not seen all the arrows and bolts around, but those good ones are quite rare, and you wouldn't be using them unless vs boss fights, or ever - perhaps this could be covered by some idea I heard, but that's another issue.)
Also, unless you are an AA, your AB isn't going to be much different than melee toons, it quite defeats the purpose of having a ranged ones. Crit range is not that great (but we have keened bows and xbows, which are very nice), and well, you cannot WM it, so there isn't much improvement on the builds itself.

Barbarians can give bow sonic buff, but needs 25 str, and barbs won't give xbow ab bonus, so it can only be used for 2 or 3 extra attacks (not sure why barb's are the only full ab class that doesn't receive this bonus). Harper Scout seems like a nice class to add, since +5 magic damage is carried onto the arrow/bows (not sure which), and other damage would come from Cleric/Paladin/BG's damage, or Sneaks.

Wow I wrote so much just to get to the point. What do you think of having Blade of Thirst working on ranged weapons? I think that could make a strong ranged ranger builds. or.. is it too much? I know that ranger is quite buffed now, with all the AC, AB and damage (mainly for melee), but AC doesn't apply to ranged.

Or getting the Ftr widget worked on ranged too. It would be quite nice, maybe a little too OP but it's an idea Tongue

I would like to find out which boss gives XP bonus and which doesn't.

It looks like Thrall is not giving xp bonus, as well as Ethering boss, Henneth bosses, and Dale bosses.
I don't know if they are supposed to or they aren't.
Is there a way to find out which gives and which don't?

Thanks!

Hi,

I dunno where to put it, so i decided to post it here.
Just one item that I would like to see a slight change.

Devorin's Father's Cape of Might.

It has +4 str and con, which is really nice. I'm thinking that perhaps the Immunity on it has been mistakenly put.

It says "Spell Immunity : Fear".. perhaps it was intended as "Immunity : Fear"

^^

It's good that people are trying to revive the server.
I would host if I knew how.. and well I'm way around the globe from where most players are. I dunno if the connection will be good.

Anyway, hope that we can get this thing working!

Would it be weird if one of the event went something like this?

Gondor vs Mordor , small group PvP, maybe 4 in each team.

Each team chooses one boss to fight with them! Any boss? or within a reasonable range!

^^
21  Gondor vs Mordor 1 / GvM1 Players Forum / Re: CTF Event tonight at 8:30 PM Est on: 05 December 2010, 04:09
Great event! and good to have you back, Nobu! It was a lot of fun, and good xp! I believe this kind of event will attract the players to come back to the mode!  laugh Some people turned up a little late though.. We could definitely use more players on events like this! I think pvp-ing between different variety of builds would be a good way to find out what works best against what. This sort of pvp event will definitely allows us to 1) have fun 2) find out what builds work vs different builds 3) get prizes!  Shocked

One thing though.. Would be really great if we can get crystal points on kills, though I dunno how it'd work since it's not always Gondor vs Mordor.

Looks like the XP increment has been implemented, Thanks!

I think we could use some haste items, haste pots, or sandwalker sandals or stuff like that. Other than that, it's been great!

yeah, we got like similar no. of spawns after we cleared what's on the photo, all the bosses dead.. (cuz i went to kill the xbowmen at the top of the screenshot, suddenly all spawned from every side of the map!)

A PM got turned at MT gate yesterday. I dunno about elsewhere though..

The dwarves at lonely mountain, they kept spawning, the place where bosses are.
Same for dale, the knights and clerics and mages kept spawning.
