The future hosting of GvM

OK, following on from a couple of other threads, this is purely here to determine if there is someone out there in the community with the means and time to host the GvM mod from home.

I can't really comment on the requirements of the bandwidth required (20 players max probably) but do know that the IP address of the host needs to be fixed and that the host has a very good uptime.

Please respond. If there are no responses then we will be looking at a paid for solution which in my opinion is not the preferred option, but still do-able.

My offer still stands: Im more than willing to run the server ... Im running Linux 24/7 though, so I hope that will be no problem? Otherwise I'll adept and make a windows-server too if needed.
remote access can be granted ofcourse, no problem there

We can work our way up from there to resurrect a great working GvM server, with combined efforts we surely will succeed.

And yeah also a very good one soulster: ... who runs this forum ... that one needs a backup plan very soon ... otherwise we'll end up pretty bad with everything arond this project.

About my ip:
My ip isnt quite fixed ... although its the same for about a year or so ... but we can make it kinda fixed with a free dynamic dns service
I can use DNSExit.com for instance?

Being on Linux shouldn't be an issue and setting up the server should be pretty easy - just need to run the mod under the nwserver.exe with the correct settings (running the server client should not use up the CD key of that install either). I had to make sure I had port forwarding on my router setup when I was running the test server.

So yes we can give it a try
