OK this has been a hot topic since the mod came back up and I have been PM'd or DM'd about this by a whole load of people because of concerns about 'what might happen'.

First thing to say is that the only thing I have changed with shifters since the mod came back is fixing the tensers abuse that was going on.

Secondly I am not going to start nerfing the shifter shapes/feats. The mod has been with these enhancements and spell related enhancements for the better part of 3+ years probably and think it will be detrimental to the player base if massive changes were to occur due to the established popularity of the class.

So with that said, what will change which will bring the shifter class inline with how it was originally envisaged by Terrorble is that all other spell stacking abuse will be fixed.

So for example tensers (already fixed) is now not be cast-able from shapes that are not drow. There are one or two other spells/feats which will also get this fix.

I have been asked specifically about the Vampire rage and Azer DP. Now the vampire rage looks like it was designed to be transferable from shape to shape (e.g. you cast it in vampire shape, de-shift and shift into something else and the bonuses are all kept) and this will remain as is. The Azer DP, well at this stage I am not sure what happens with this without further testing so will post an update on this once I know how it currently behaves.

Further updates on the class will be posted here ;)

Now I'm not sure what can be done at this point but I'd say changing the Shifter "bug" probably drove a lot of players away only to satisfy the selfishness of one person who was out of control. Speaking of which, if I were a dev at that point I would have offered that person a spot on the dev team but request a phone conversation first. I would have then called him and explained that if my server got DDOS'd I'd turn his info over to the authorities. And I'd be telling him this as I banned his IP and deleted his vault.

And while it may not have been intended it certainly wasn't a bug as the radial menu has been usable since the game launched. Some of us spent a very long time leveling those terrible-to-level characters for very specific purposes and now they're useless. That's not a good feeling.
