New GvM player here, been on for about a week now.

Some observations:

XP is quite generous.
Mountain giants wield big fish.
I was happy to find this is not a LOTR clone server, I have played on several.
I fought a Xorn! Never seen one of those in NWN before.

Are there any scheduled events?

If you see me in-game, I play Staav (Level 20), and Quarion (Level 17).

Login is TM500 on server also.

Welcome! This server been around for over 10 years! (Used to be pvp heavy as well, as the name implies: Gondor vs Mordor.)

The bonus-XP makes leveling fast, that's something that's turned on last couple of months? I dont know. (Same as Divine Protection for unlimited respawns; although i remember that being on for most of the time when i played in 2008.)

The mountaingiants have a dropchance for that fish btw. Can't recall the stats.

To answer your questions/observations:

1) I tend to DM bump up the XP bonus to a generous amount after each server reset, this was done some time ago in combination with adding perma-haste and a no-penalty respawn (also known as perma Divine Protection) just to help the players out (especially the newer players) as it can be a tough mod. The XP bonus is manipulated by the players from killing bosses or capturing certain areas (Osgilliath and The Outpost), but DMs now also have the ability to modify this on the fly.

2) There are currently no scheduled events, in the past there were a lot more DMs, some who specialised in advertising/running events, but with the smaller player base and smaller DM presence, it's pretty hard to commit to events.

I've gotten two of those fish clubs so far.

The extra XP is much appreciated. Been playing for about 10 years and all my favorite servers are gone, plus I don't have tons of time to play so easier leveling keep me interested.

I ran into several other players on the server today.
