Succeeded !!

New mod up and running ... from now on you MUST use the extra hak-file to enter the server!

Again-see topic: PLEASE READ : Upcoming Update with Hak Download
http://www.gondorvsmordor.com/gvm2/forum/index.php?topic=3423.0

Summary:
Download:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1C9rbRAkpH_CVkWSX08qtAYq_Syjnp9wf/view?usp=sharing
Place the file in the hak folder of your NWN installation. It seems that depending on how you've installed NWN and possibly CEP (e.g Steam/Steam Workshop install vs regular install) the location of where the hak file needs to go can vary. But I'm hoping that it will just be:
C:\Users\[YourUserName]\Documents\Neverwinter Nights\hak

If not and you play via steam it might need to go into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\704450\1312882397\hak
You will not be able to enter the server without this hak file !!!!!

Mmm, frustrating. It only seems to be breaking when it goes up onto the server.

I wouldn't mind so much if I could replicate the problem but I can't as it all works when I test it on my PC.

I remember that we tried on your server even before this HAK file and it worked. Honestly it seems to be some issue with the server configuration, maybe something is out of order and is being overriden, or some option is disabled/enabled, i dont know. That is the only thing that explains this given that the exact same mod works whe you launch the server.

Since this hak is not working, it might be better to remove it so its easier for new player to join the server.

classes.2da differs

in Steam game map G:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Neverwinter Nights\ovr
its a file from 2017

in C: documents map its a file from 2020

Maybe Steam map has priority above c-map documents?

But then again map
G:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Neverwinter Nights\data\hk
doesnt seem to do that much ... it only has 3 files:
km_resources.hak
sg_resources.hak
ww_resources.hak

So this map is maybe not important but
G:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Neverwinter Nights\ovr
is important ... ???

or should I copy all the hak files in my C: drive documents
into:
G:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Neverwinter Nights\data\hk
????

I really dont get the mechanics of this game in Steam ...
especially in combination of the c: map documents.

Assuming the 2017 file originates from some pre-ee install of nwn, i would first start with a complete cleanup and fresh install of a single nwn-ee instance. Make sure to wipe any and all config locations and maybe even a quick clean of the registry.

With a single install, you're setup will become "reproducible" by others like FC. It bring down complexity, which is always good for reliability.

Edit: or maybe i misunderstood your info completely and you already have a fresh env with single steam install that resulted in all those files. If that is the case then I agree with your "I really dont get the mechanics" :-)

Hey bk  Smiley thnx for advise.
But I dont think a reinstall will help ... this one already is quite fresh.
The old file can be something I did ... I copied haks and cda's between c drive and G drivejust to be sure everything was there when program needs it ...
So I can delete this old file or replace it with the new one ...
No need to "refresh" registry ... nothing will change there ... only files will change.
So what I really need is input from -fc-  what is he having in those maps I described earlier.

Also ... its quite possible that an .ini file is configured differently on -fc-'s computer.
-fc-?
if you can cross reference all the above and this one below ... maybe we can figure out where the differences are.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but i think i read somewhere that now also some docker images exists that can run nwserver. If that is the case, we could try and configure one on -fc-'s machine and then just use the same image. At least then the config will be identical.

Thnx for all the input.

But server worked just fine and still is running fine, despite the PM hak/mod modulation not working.
So new installations etc ... not needed.

I just need information (asked earlier) ... from -fc- I guess
and besides this ... maybe Steam NWNEE mechanisms work in mysterious ways?
classes.2da in Steamapp directory ... maybe isnt needed or IS needed?
... therefore I just replaced the 2017 classes.2da with the 2020 version ...
also see nwn.ini ... is this ini file needed anyway nowadays?
there you see everything is pointing to C: documents (because this was where/how Steam installed the game partially) ... maybe override should point to the steamapps ovr map instead?
(I highly doubt that ... because earlier problems were solved by putting 2da files in C: documents\override map)

So we dont need other install options ... we just need some insight and information
best way in my opinion : see what -fc- has in his maps / ini file(s) - compare these with what I have posted above and I think we have a solution.

Also this is a very important check:
... which version nwserver.exe is used when building and checking
-fire-?

My Steamapp "says" neverwinternights is always updated to latest version (I dont see option for delaying or refusing updates)
... but nwserver.exe file details says its still version from 23 dec. 2020 - 79.8193.0.0
this does not correspond with newest announced version on Steam:
8193.21
still validation check passed with no errors or repairs ... ???

So -fire-?
Can you check you're version of nwserver.exe?

Hey

Skim read all of the above info, I'll try and find some time to go through it in detail over the next few days.
