So this is basically Olle saying "stick it players I could care less if you don't like something that is ridiculous."
Yeah, that was exactly what was said :/ Get real will ya. Basically, it is a an unfortunate side effect and until it can be fixed you will have to deal. Is that a better answer?

Actually its a much better answer than "ha ha up yours we could give a shit" answer. Why the hell pelegar milita have see inviso have I will never know....and don't give me they can hear me crap. I was basically out of the line of sight and didn't even engage them yet and I was "seen".

NPCs dont worry bout what your graphics setting is. Most have graphics set low and don't see how NPCs can still follow you. Try setting your graphics to highest level you can handle and then walk on each type of terrain. See the dust fly, the grass parting, water ripples, and etc.
You'll understand what NPCs are chasing.

Why do they congregate around you when you die while Invis or come 3 rooms over when you are standing still unmoving? Sounds like coords being sent incorrectly to me But I've never looked at the script code.

How can you die and still be invisible? NPCs go to the spot of the last sound they hear or glimpse of you.
How many of you are wearing an item that has a light property on them? That's a big big negative.

Light only has a modifier of -10 DC for having a light on you, and that's only at night...it's not that big a negative. I don't know who else has noticed (the best place is in the evil chicken's barn, I think) but if someone stealths while kicking up dust, the place they disappeared still kicks up clouds to those who can't see the player, like they're still standing there. I've checked this out because I thought that might be how the NPCs found us...it's not. The cloud doesn't move even when the player does, so you can't use that to follow them. As far as I know, ripples in water are the only way a player can be tracked by another player, but that's no surprise. That's why I don't tend to run through water if I need to get away. There's nothing we can do about it for now - we'll just have to accept that stealth isn't foolproof and get on with it. And I suppose losing Con could make you die while invisible? Could be that

As far as invisibility goes, I think Olle meant that you can't die and still be invisible because magical effects are removed on death.
As for Light, I'm pretty sure it's a -20 to hide and it's all the time. The -10 you're thinking of is if the character has a light on them (as in a torch). By default, the light spell does not affect stealth, but on GvM (according to the wiki, at least) the spell light gives a -20 hide penalty.
Though, to be fair, it says (also on the wiki) that if the light spell is on an item then it gives no penalty (so why an item with the light property would, I have no idea).

Hmm...I suppose the reason the flaming weapon properties don't wear off is because they're a property on the weapon itself then? To be honest light isn't one of those spells I foresaw a change for, but I can see why it was done. It's quite amusing how there seems to be a highly contagious allergic reaction to chit-chat sweeping through the forums. Anyone would think they actually disliked talking about anything that isn't vitally important to the world...like a 7 year old computer game that receives no more official patches... Yeah.

I was killed by the spirit dragon so he has true sight. I was invisld and he one shotted me. Most of the half dragons ended up standing over me clearly a result of some buggy code when the pc is stealthed invis. I've never seen them do that for a normal death. Those that killed you may stay but not new ones

Rofl, your logic is George Bushesque! I read some of these things and just shake my head, i mean, really? It all started out as a head hunt on certain classes/items, now we have moved on to Operation Uruk Freedom where the npc's gain all of these abilities that players can't have. Unless of course you consider that the npc's will all congregate around you even if you have 127 hide/ms and are standing perfectly still. But we won't talk about that All in all its not that big of a deal to adapt to...but..the stories man, the stories. A simple "I don't know" would be soooo much better than most of the 'reasons' I read. It's like a little kid trying to explain to his parents why he crapped his pants. "But but...I was just walking down the street when a gust of wind blew on me and made me take a deep breath right at the same time as i tripped on a stick. I couldn't hold it and **** all over myself" When in all reality the stupid kid just flat out **** himself. Sorry, but that's how I see it. Someone **** themselves

He's making NOISES when he walks on the stone.... and they HEAR that. You act like there's some kind of crazy in game skill system that would say hey pink has 127 MS and mr. uruk has 27 ... i dunno lets call it listen and then they do some kind of i dunno lets call it an opposed roll and it should be mathmatically impossible for it to hear you thus meaning ther'es some buggy location code. I'm with olle on this. Your logic is flawed.

To fix this problem, I would recommend not going afk, or standing still while invisible or hipsed in an area with enemy monsters.
